The 10 Best Flea & Street Markets in Goa, India

April 7, 2022 Concepcion Newsome

The sandy coast of Goa is perfect for reclining by the sea. Nestle into a cushioned chair at a beach shack and savor a curry while you sip a Kingfisher beer, watching the sun slip lazily below the horizon. In Old Goa, the beautiful Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fine example of baroque architecture. Visit during Christmastime to experience a fantastic religious and cultural mash-up of East and West.

This is currently easily the best market in Goa. It cuts out the crap stuff & the crowds all the good quality Goa craft stalls have moved from indigos Saturday night market to here. Such a great venue at tree top club with all the great decor, lovely friendly stall holders, bars, live bands & then u go through a arch into the food arena with about 30 local food outlets & a little rave disco going on - this market is also so clean & fresh absolutely loved it throughly recommend a visit - no riff raff or crowds as they charge 100 rupes to enter but well worth it. RIP Saturday night market.

Holiday Street

Plenty of shops, restaurants and stall to visit on this very busy street. Watch out for the many scooters, cars, vans and lorries that all own the bit if road you are trying to walk on. It's all fun although very hot. We used this street to reach the beach. When you get nearly down to the beach, turn left and follow this side street down to the Park hotel. The path continues down a set of steps into the beach and on the left facing the sea is the Sea Whale beach shack that offers the normal drinks and excellent food but also boat trips to see the dolphins etc. Lovely people run this shack and it wasn't too busy either.

We visited 3 times on our trip buying silver jewellery and yak shawls. Do visit the lady with the stall of yak shawls, she is a kind soul and will recommend colours! I love the hassel free environment and you don't feel obliged to buy things. Jewellery vendors are more than happy to let you look at your leisure and decide what you'd like to buy. The Tibetan people are wonderful.
