Stunning, lovely Manor House ?

Reviewed By yuktiroye

We rented the Manor House for a family staycation at the end of August. We were 8 adults and 5 children, and loved it so much, we can’t wait to go back next summer! The location and grounds are breathtaking, the house is impressive with grand staircases, and well spread out to accommodate a large group. The pool was such a bonus, and we made the most of it - an absolute god send as the weather was very hit and miss. The kitchen is stunning, and although the aga took some getting used to, it was a lovely touch and we soon got the hang of it. The house has access to huge grounds, so we thoroughly enjoyed watching the sheep and cows in the morning, and loved our farm trail walk as well. There’s a very cute bridge and stream running close to the Manor House as well. Richard was very responsive, and always on hand in the run up to our stay, as well as while we were there. Only small comment I’d make is that the property could benefit from one more communal space - they have a lovely sitting room, and dining table in the kitchen, but if we were a larger group, we might have struggled without another reception room. I know they’re renovating and doing up the property over the coming months, so any small niggles will be fixed I’m sure! Overall an absolute pleasure. Would definitely recommend ?

Hidden gem of a B&B!

This is a super clean and cosy b&b situated in a tranquil part of Wales. Great for family walks and reconnecting with nature. Every view from every window is absolutely breathtaking. The scenery is second to none. We explored the pretty local area of Llanwrtwd Wells (officially Britain’s smallest town as we discovered on our trip!) We also visited other towns nearby including Llandovery which was a 20 minute drive away (The Kings Head pub is fantastic there) and we also drove to Tenby Beach for a day out which was 1.5 hours away. This was a fun day out in a lively seaside town. Steve and Jane are very welcoming hosts and Steve makes the best breakfast!! We enjoyed our experience so much that we are planning to return next spring. Thank you Steve and Jane for your fabulous hospitality! Emma, Simon & Oliver

The accommodation was comfortable and clean, the facilities at the farm were great and Dave and Sue and their family couldn’t have made us more welcome. Our children loved the animal feeding, the swimming pool, the pool table, table tennis table and most of all the collection of pets.

Comfort in the Welsh Wild West

Reviewed By Lou R

I stayed with friends for 4 nights in one of the very pretty traditional cottages at Cwm Connell. Despite being winter we were warm and cozy with very efficient heating and a lovely friendly log burner in the sitting room. Every need was catered for in the cottage, the kitchen is well laid out and stocked with all the cooking equipment needed for a proper self catering holiday. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. Parking is conveniently located close to the accommodation but not overlooked. Dogs are welcome. There are facilities for laundry in a separate area, along with outside stand for washing down dogs, wellies, swimming gear etc. A private enclosed field is very useful for safe dog walks, especially useful if your hound needs to be kept on a lead in public spaces. There’s a fabulous hot tub with a view and sauna, also a games room. Great for winding down at the end of the day. You can walk from the property straight into a wooded valley and along the coastal paths to the nearby beaches. Cardigan is an easy drive away. The views are outstanding both from the property itself and the area in general. Alex and Emma Mitchell are fantastic hosts. I cannot recommend highly enough a visit to Cwm Connell if you want a beautiful, wild getaway that is at the same time extremely well designed and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Thank you to the Mitchells…I’ll be back!

Betws bach at Rhos country cottages

Reviewed By janettew59

We've just come back from an amazing week's half term break at Betws Bach, Rhos country cottage. Anwen, the property owner, was amazing - very friendly, helpful and responsive to our queries. The cottage is spacious, inviting, comfortable, equipped with everything we needed and more. The games room with 3/4 sized snooker table kept us occupied for much of our evenings. The beautiful log burner in the lounge's impressive fireplace, gave off lots of heat and added to the cozy appeal during our cold February evenings there. The t.v. is quite basic with no smart facilities. Wifi signal is not good there anyway, apart from in the kitchen. We were already aware of this and it certainly didn't take anything away from our holiday. In fact, it was quite nice to escape from the fast pace of the outside world for a bit and spend better quality family time engaging with each other, playing board games, cards and snooker. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a dishwasher and a washing machine, which we used after our muddy daytime walks. The large round kitchen table came in handy for the 7 of us to sit around for meals, board games and cards. The crockery is very nice and all from Portmeirion. The bedrooms are very traditionally made up and all the beds are comfortable with quality bedding that suits the house. To access the rather grand bedroom and lovely shower room on the attic/2nd floor, you have to duck your head climbing the last few stairs and be careful when near the beamed entrance. It was fine though and none of us banged heads. The shower room on this floor is very nice and looks very new, as does the bathroom with overhead shower on the 2nd floor. The views from the house are magnificent on clear days. Yr Wyddfa and other Snowdonia mountain ranges are clearly visible. There's a lovely stoned patio area with patio furniture directly by the main front door and another smaller area with table and bench to the side of the house. The large grassy area in front of the patio leads down to the stream. We did so many different things and packed in as much as we could on our holiday. There is a large pack of information about the area, maps, suggested walks, etc., in Betws Bach. We found these leaflets etc., very handy and another great touch. We went on beach walks in Criccieth, Llandudno and Abersoch, mountain walks up Mynydd Mawr and other ranges, Aber Falls waterfalls walk etc.. As well as this, we went to Glasfryn adventure park for ten pin bowling, go carting and also to Zip World in Betws y Coed for Treetops forest coaster rides. We had an amazing meal one evening in the Goat Inn which is just over 2 miles away on the main road, A487 from Porthmadog to Caernarfon. I can recommend this. It's not cheap but it was excellent quality food and good service. All in all, we had a fab time and I wholeheatedly recommend Rhos country cottages if you're either up for exploring the beautiful gems of North Wales or even for a quiet, relaxing time away from it all.

Cwmiar Farm Holiday Cottages

Six self-catering holiday cottages. Traditional old stone farm outbuildings lovingly converted into accommodation of a high standard, retaining the Olde Worlde feel, but with all mod cons.Cwmiar is a tranquil place and our guests frequently describe it as unique; situated in its own secluded valley on the slope of Llanllwni mountain, adjacent to beautiful moorland which is common land, with sheep, cattle and horses roaming free; where guests can ramble and enjoy panoramic views, all the way round from the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains to the North East round to the Priscelis in the South West.Children love feeding and helping to take care of the many and various animals on the farm and can spend as much or as little time with us as they would like to. There are also several play areas to keep them amused, including a playground especially for toddlers and a clubhouse with skittles, snooker, darts and loads more for all ages, including a wide screen TV, so that the youngsters can all sit and watch films or programmes together. The whole family will have a wonderful holiday at Cwmiar - see our reviews.

We visited as a large family group and rented out 3 houses. The houses are old and full of character. Kay, the owner, is friendly and welcoming. Every morning you can feed the animals with her from 9am - pigs, ducks, geese, cows, sheep, chickens. She even offers tractor rides for the kids. Lovely location about 40 mins from some very beautiful beaches like Tresaith. Definitely going again!
