The National Theater is one of the various neo-classical buildings in central Oslo, along the Karl Johann gate. Following the great tradition of Ibsen, one of Norway's best known writers, the theater, opened around 1899, schedules performances all year around. The facade faces a popular square with a beautiful fountain reminiscent of a giant dandelion, with a convenient subway station on one side. The back faces the Parliament (several blocks away) and includes three larger than life statues of Norway's three best authors. The theater is partially supported by the Norwegian governmets

Oslo Concert Hall is Oslo’s musical festive hall.

Easy to find, easy to enter, easy to store coats, easy to find our seats. The seating near the back was well-tiered, allowing great views with no heads getting in the way, and plenty of legroom too. The Christmas concert is apparently well-known, so we booked tickets a few weeks before online. It was a great performance from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and choir, with a few solo slots. We didn't understand a word of the narrative but it didn't matter. It would have been even better if it was a bit longer.
