Himachal Pradesh ([ɦɪmaːtʃəl prəd̪eːʃ] ( listen); literally "snow-laden province") is a state of India located in North India. Situated in the Western Himalayas, it is bordered by states of Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Punjab on the west, Haryana on the southwest, Uttarakhand on the southeast, and the Tibet Autonomous Region on the east. At its southernmost point, it also touches the state of Uttar Pradesh. The state's name was coined from the Sanskrit—Him means 'snow' and achal means 'land' or 'abode'—by acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, one of the state's eminent Sanskrit scholars.

The Christ Church Kasauli situated close to the bus stand, was constructed by the the British family who founded the town of Kasauli itself. The church is a magnificent structure built in the shape of a cross. Set amidst a grove of chestnut and fir trees, the church offers quiet and tranquil atmosphere. Earlier the church was known by the name of Anglican Church. In the year 1970, the church was brought under the aegis of the CNI (Churches of North India). It is currently managed by the diocese of Amritsar. The Christ Church is the prime building in the centre of the heritage area of Kasauli town and as one enters the main town, this is the first building which comes to view. This church was previously an Anglican church and was founded in the year 1844,
A very Beautiful Church situated near the Bus Stand . Although the Church is very old and is a small Building . But is very beautiful , Operational and nicely maintained. Old British Architecture is amazing. We visited at the time of Prayers . It was a wonderful experience inside and outside the Church .Once you reach Kasauli Bus Stand , It will be the first attraction that you will find .

The foundation stone was laid in 1884 by Bishop Daniel Wilson and the church was consecrated on 10 January 1857 by Bishop Thomas Daltrey. It is built in the neo-Gothic style and is a prominent building on The Ridge. The clock was installed in the tower in 1860 and the porch erected in 1873. The original organ, since extensively renovated, was installed in 1899. Interesting to discover that Guy Gibson, leader of the Dambusters Raid in 1943, was christened here on 11/09/1918. The building is well maintained and you can admire the beauty of the stained glass windows from the interior. At night the building is illuminated. Christ Church is a lasting legacy of British rule and is now the only place of religious worship that Christians have in Shimla.

This is a hauntingly beautiful church located close to Dharamshala Bus Stand, on the way to McLeod Ganj. This neo-gothic structure is perhaps the oldest structures in Dharamshala and was built in memory of St. John the Baptist in 1852. Surrounded by dense Deodhar forest, one could get lost in and hence probably the reason for its name. The imposing structure of the church is set with stained glass windows donated by Lady Elgin, whose husband Lord Elgin is buried here and services are still held every Sunday. The Obelisk dedicated to Lord James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin is quite interesting, when you read his previous accomplishments (Viceroy & Governor General of India, previously Governor of Jamaica, Governor General of Canada, High Commissioner & Ambassador to China) and misdeeds (While in China, ordered the complete destruction of the Old Summer Palace). The misdeed is of course not mentioned. The church grounds are beautiful and the graveyard still has some beautiful graves with headstones of soldiers who were posted here. Beautiful, beautiful monument, not to be missed. Worth spending some time sitting on the benches outside or inside. Serene, calm and peaceful location.
