Stopped by on way from Desert Night Camp to Ras al Jinz turtle reserve. Very interesting collection of Omani cultural objects in a beautifully renovated fort. Coffee and dates with the very friendly owner after a guided tour was a bonus.

Jabreen also spelled Jibreen Castle or Jabrin Castlem is superiority with beauty among all castle in the whole of Oman according to Oman trippers. This historic castle was constructed in the late 17th century and is located in Bahla in the Al Dakhiliyah( same place of Bahla fort -a must for visit) about 175 KM away from MCT. The average time spend to the castle is approx 20- 30 minutes. The castle is open from Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm and on Friday from 8am to 11am. Entry fee is 500 baizas for adults. During our visit ( March and June ) it remains closed .So we had photos outside and the nearby date palm plantation.

My first fort in Oman, and as others have said, the outside may not be very impressive, but the inside is great. Rooms are restored, some furnished, and some have architectural decorations. And the ticket guy, with his dates and coffee (and complimenting my Arabic) made it very welcoming.

Al Alam Palace is not residential palace. It is used to recieve dignitories and other official functions. It is opposite National Museum. One can walk up to the gate. There is lot of space in front of the gate and manicured gardens on the front right of the gate. It's a hood photo opportunity for tourists. For residents it's a nice place to spend time with kids once in a while. Jalali and Mirani forts are on the either side of it.
