Built in 1143 on the banks of the Garonne, rebuilt on huge retaining walls in the thirteenth century, it was one of the three richest Cistercian monasteries of the south. Rebuilt again in the eighteenth century, it now offers its imposing majesty and provides a framework at the Museum of tableware.

The only part remaining of the original medieval castle is the tower of Simon de Montfort to which the existing forecastle was added in the 14th century. The main body, which was built between 1530 and 1545 in the style of the Italian Renaissance, boasts façades decorated with sculptures which will undoubtedly be of special interest to the visitor. The various rooms are enriched by their antique furnishings. The story of Château Saint Louis began in 1991 when Marie-Cécile and Ali Mahmoudi bought the estate.
