Just called in while visiting Cockermouth great little hardware shop and well stocked did not no about museum untill told by shop assistant great find museum is full of old machinery and tools loads of old locks guns spears and swords also old office area also lookout for large clocks well worth a visit and it is FREE yes FREE will call back when next in area.

Had previously done a walk in lingholm with the boys , so just had to go back to see the mams and babies . What can I say other than a must do experience! What a delight to be able to get up close to these wonderful animals ! Could do it every day and still be excited!

5 of us went here for a couple of drinks and stayed for a lot more! We were greeted when we entered and the barman/landlord found us a table to sit 5 which was safely distanced from others. It is a quirky Jennings pub with very friendly staff serving a range of real ales aswell as Guinness and lagersall at a reasonable price too - perfect for a group of mixed drinkers. Unfortunately we eventually had to leave as we'd booked into a restaurant elsewhere in town.

We stayed in Cockermouth for a couple of nights and spent a fair bit of time in here on both nights. The pub is very much to our taste, have very friendly staff and a good selection of local real ales (refreshingly there were some strong ones, which a lot of pubs seem reluctant to sell) plus Warsteiner on draught. Prices are very reasonable. Well worth a visit. Plenty of 'local characters' in there - always a bonus.

We have been promising ourselves to visit Wordsworth House for years and finally got round to it last week before it closed for the Winter. What a great place for both children and adults alike. The staff, all dressed in period costume were extremely entertaining offering samples that had been made in the kitchen to authentic Georgian recipes and entertaining the children with stories of life as a servant. The dining room is set with authentic food, once again made in the kitchen, and looks as if the residents have just finished their meal and left the room. There is also a wonderful Harpsichord in the drawing room, which was made in the 21st Century and has a beautiful sound. The gardens were also a must see although we realised that they would be much better in the Summer season. A Great place for all ages with plenty of play opportunities for children and adults alike!

We visited with a mixed age group (18, 30’s, 50’s and 60’s) and had a brilliant time. The tour was informative and the guide was happy to answer any questions throughout. It was nice to see a traditional brewery without heavy mechanisation. The tasting afterwards was friendly and you could go behind the bar to pull your own pint, which added a little something extra :) We were also able to sample Jennings port and chutneys, which helped when making decisions in the gift shop! All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with lovely staff and company.
