My wife (Judy) and I have just enjoyed a fantastic tour of the Keswick Brewery and tasting. Our host, Nigel, was quite superb. So enthusiastic and informative and so welcoming. An excellent visit and the samples of the ales were delicious. Can’t recommend this tour more. Only regret is that the beer is only sold in Cumbria but understandable. Can’t wait to return and sample some more and see the new Fox Tap bar open. Thanks Nigel and good luck from Tony and Judy Hodge of Salisbury.

The brewery and bar itself is a real gem. A rustic coach house serving a range of drinks including their own ale which was delicious and very reasonably priced We also stayed in the BnB accommodation which is in the adjacent building. We couldn't have been made more welcome and comfortable. The hosts were lovely, chatty and friendly. Everything about the accommodation and the meals and drinks was spot on it really was a wonderful experience. We stayed whilst walking Hadrians Wall but I would recommend a stay or a visit to anyone. It really is worth the trip.

Much needed chill out With my wife and our cocker spaniel we opted for a two night stay Wednesday and Thursday The room was small but perfect for our needs No 8 staff here are first class very polite and keen to assist . the bar has a very well stocked range of in house brewed ales and the usual lagers and spirits seating outside comfortable and pleasant and the table service is top notch ,the food they refer to as Bar Meals, Really? Not my interpretation of a bar meal, the food is a cut above the normal bar meal in my honest opinion freshly cooked and decent portions and a decent choice on the menu breakfast is another success full English freshly cooked and not tight on portion sizes either. what I like is the place has great choice of beers great food great staff, its just got this great vibe locals and visitors just enjoying the place its a really good location you could easily walk into bowness approx 2 miles via a path/cycle route that runs alongside the main road yes not ideal I get that but its easy for anyone wanting to cut out the need for driving round and round Bowness looking for a parking space you could also leave the watermill and take the first left before you get to the main road and follow the road up this leads to many different walking routes , again its easy even for a push chair you could easily do a loop without having to walk on rough terrain. Thanks to all staff and locals alike look forward to returning in 2021 Give this place people

We visited the hawkshead beer festival in July as a party of 4. This beer festival is held twice yearly in the village of Steverley in Cumbria, and in my opinion is a must do event for real ale drinkers with over 80 different beers on tap. We had a fantastic day at the festival, and managed to sample over 20 different beers, some nice and some not so nice!!. There were live bands playing throughout the day, adding to the chilled atmosphere. There was also various food stations around the venue selling a variety of cuisines. Great day out, this is the second time we have been and will try and return in 2019.

We visited with a mixed age group (18, 30’s, 50’s and 60’s) and had a brilliant time. The tour was informative and the guide was happy to answer any questions throughout. It was nice to see a traditional brewery without heavy mechanisation. The tasting afterwards was friendly and you could go behind the bar to pull your own pint, which added a little something extra :) We were also able to sample Jennings port and chutneys, which helped when making decisions in the gift shop! All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with lovely staff and company.

Amazing pizzas at the weekend, take away or to sit in the yard (heaters for cooler nights) with beer from brewery or wine from wine snug. Also recommend the sharing plates from the Wine Snug, really tasty especially when followed by the unbelievably yummy cheesecake. Just a really chilled place with every one of the small businesses complimenting each other.

The latest offering from Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery Co. Ltd is the Royal Barn. A community-spirited beer hall with 20 pumps of cask and keg craft ale as well as a fully stocked world beer bottle bar (take-away available). With regular music and entertainment evenings Open 7 days a week. Newly installed the coolest COVID safeguarding you will see!

We searched the town for somewhere relaxed and open on a Monday and nearly gave up. This beer hall is coffee serving as well and was full of families, etc relaxing in a very comfortable atmosphere. A talented visitor was playing the piano and little ones were dancing to it. Coffee was very good as was the food, however the eating thing isn't their strong point, but 'so what' in terms of the overall experience. Watch out for the traffic wardens - a current story is of a warden who was told of a lady lying ill in a shop and fined here anyway. The disgusted owners paid her fine. Almost as bad a Penrith if you go there!
