The 10 Best Boat Tours & Water Sports in California, United States

December 4, 2021 Margarita Chappel

California is a fertile, peaceful place where you’ll find a near-equal balance of vineyards and deserts, beaches and mountains, hippies and traditionalists. Catch an epic wave in Big Sur or swirl a glass in Napa Valley. Be dazzled by the Joshua Tree night sky or just star-gaze in Hollywood. Swish down the slopes of a Tahoe ski resort, or cruise across the Golden Gate Bridge with the top down and the music blasting. Above all, don’t forget to soak up some Golden State sunshine.

Blue Ocean Whale Watch

Blue Ocean Whale Watch is owner-operated and has the most unique boat on the bay. Our boat, High Spirits, is a 60ft yacht with plenty of space inside and out. An observation deck up top provides a 360 degree view of the bay and a perfect vantage point for spotting wildlife and taking photos. Our tours depart from the heart of the Monterey Bay: Moss Landing Harbor. Moss Landing is the closest port to the start of the Monterey Submarine Canyon; a nutrient-rich area that attracts a variety of wildlife. Fun Cat Sailing Catamaran Adventures

Daily sailing adventures aboard 2 beautiful ocean going large sailing catamarans. Help sail, or just relax on an afternoon whale watching (seasonal), sunset cruise, or on one of our sailing/sea kayaking combo tours. Our Captains are experienced and friendly, but our catamarans are really the stars of the show. My 1st catamaran "Tigress" is spacious and comfortable, and carries our sea kayaks for our combo tours. My 2nd catamaran "Wind Drum" is the Ferrari of the sailing charters. Very fast, exciting and also comfortable. You can charter one of our catamarans privately, or join in, and pay per person. Small groups insure that our tours are fun and informal. After you come aboard, you will feel like a friend going for a sail with friends. We are very non commercial/touristy, and there are no phone #s or signs on our boats. We focus on quality, not quantity. We are of course Coast Guard licensed Captains with over 28 years experience taking San Diego guests out on the ocean. Catamarans are more fun.

Bay Voyager

Bay Voyager is happy to announce the opening of our new location at Pier 39 in San Francisco! The range of tours offered by Bay Voyager include viewing historic ships, visiting former mooring sites of abandoned gold rush ships, and experiencing active estuaries populated by cargo ships and tug boats. You’ll see the San Francisco waterfront, cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge, around Alcatraz, Under the Bay Bridge to the Port of Oakland, past AT&T Park (Home to the San Francisco Giants) and Back to Pier 39. While Bay Voyager does have specific routes, deviation is an integral part of the experience, making each adventure an engaging and exhilarating encounter.According to owner and captain, Charles Jennings, “we feel there is a need to provide more intimate and individualized tours that travel closer and give more in depth guided tours. By being in a small and agile vessel, guests can have an up close and personal adventure while traveling to all corners of the always-fascinating bay.”
