We decided to have a short break here. Very good value for money, a hearty breakfast included. Room 3 very spacious and clean. A good choice on lunch and evening menu. The staff were so friendly, thanks to all. The beach is only a short stroll away. Plenty of walking in either direction. Stay here you won't be disappointed

The Fox Goes Free

Great food, average hotel

Reviewed By Timothy S

We had eaten here before and thought it would be a good idea to stay. In our room (no. 1) we found a note that the room was due for renovation. So guests can hope for better at some stage. The two bottom rows of the three row window glass is frosted so that guests can't easily see the utility yard below. See Yvieh's photo of 20/09/2015. You are pre-warned that the stairs to the rooms in the main building are a bit tricky but fine for the able-bodied. Having said that, the room itself is fine and has all the usual amenities. And both the situation of the Fox Goes Free and the exterior aspect are a delight. (See photos). The food is very good, as we found on our previous visit. A well chosen menu, well presented and all the dining areas a pleasure to be in. A good wine list.

Perfection - 11/10

Immaculately clean and well decorated comfortable single room, with sea views. Richard and Mark are the perfect hosts and their communication from booking through to arrival was faultless. Well furnished drinks tray and delightful personal card of welcome. Lovely sea view lounge available, complete with fridge should you wish to chill a little something. The continental breakfast consisted of fruit juice, hot drink of choice, cereal with milk, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt with honey and warm pastries. Delicious and generous portions. As a first time solo traveller I felt safe and relaxed. Highly recommended :)

Lovely pub that was accommodating and convenient

I needed a place to stay near Steyning at relatively short notice, and found this via google maps. I needed a (very) late check-in, and the staff were super-helpful and accomodating, which was appreciated: full marks for customer service! The room was cozy and comfortable, equipped with intriguing modern gadgets (hive thermostat and electric roof-window blind) and I enjoyed a solid night's sleep. Breakfast was just right, and with parking and wifi right there it was everything I needed. Thank you! Planning to return.

A wonderful B&B experience

Reviewed By Neil R

To book my one night stay I called the owner’s mobile number, on a Sunday, a couple of months ahead of time. To my surprise, the owner took my call, clearly pausing driving to do so. I paid a deposit over the phone to secure the booking. When it came to my stay, everything was expertly organised. The room was very comfortable, guest experience clearly top of mind, the communal areas in the facility are stylish, warm and welcoming. And the cooked breakfast was fabulous! If I need to stay in the area again I shall have no hesitation in returning to The Beach House.

Stopped for the night before flying off at 4 o'clock the next morning. A nice and helpful receptionist greeted me and took the time to explain the new parking procedure. The room was spotless and roomy. We reserved this hotel for an overnight stay before flying out of Gatwick. We were also permitted to park our car there for a fair fee. It's only a 10 minutes drive from the airport, and they'll even organise a taxi for you. We went to crawley town to restaurant the night before we flew away which is a 5 minutes drive from the hotel.

Amazing breakfast and garden: a great way to start the day

We travelled there by car, over the Platinum Jubilee long weekend. The location was very convenient, as it gave us the chance to explore various highlights of the South Downs National Park. The room was very beautiful and cozy with a garden view, and very well equipped for any necessities. Each morning we enjoyed a tasty and rich breakfast in the beautiful dining room, surrounded by flowers and green. Damon and the staff were very welcoming and available for any need. We would definitely suggest the Coast Yard for a romantic getaway.

Village House Hotel

The Village House Coaching Inn is nestled in the newly formed South Downs National Park, at the heart of the picturesque downland village of Findon, near Worthing and was first mentioned by name in the 'Findon Chronicles' in 1527 when it became the property of a Mr Thomas Beret. Since then the building has seen many changes of use and has been a private house as well as a convalescent home for the well heeled of London (no change there then). In the 1930s the Village House became a guest house and tea room - a recently found advertisement dating from this time boasted of... en pension terms of 2 ½ guineas to 4 guineas per week-according to room and season... and... rooms with such modern conveniences as electric light. Today our rooms still retain their old world charm and atmosphere, but we try to offer a little more luxury than in the 1930s. If you love walking, we are ideally located for both the South Downs and Monarchs Way, which both offer fantastic views across the south downs and Sussex coast. If golf is your passion there are two challenging golf courses nearby, or if it's horse racing, then Fontwell and Goodwood racecourses are within easy distance. Findon is also the home of the Gifford Racing Stables who produced the famous Grand National winner, Aldaniti.
