Reviewed By 190djpLa Sirena with hosts Mike and Lilian was the most relaxing family vacation we have had in a long time. Luxury rooms right by the pool, waking up to birds chirping, only steps from the South Pacific warm ocean waters with legit 6-10 foot waves. No need to wait for another set, there are constant powerful waves out and plenty of waves near the beach for the kids to play. Back drop of mountains is amazing.Folks are sleeping on Costa Rica, mix of 1800's Wild Wild West with 2022 Las Vegas with the beauty beyond compare. The hosts took excellent care of us, every accommodation is thought out. Fishing is a 30 minute boat ride to Mahi Mahi, dolphins jumping. Rainy season was great with a little cloud cover, rained during the day one time, all the rain is blown inland during the day and rains late at night. Best hosts you could ask for with advantage of English and Spanish speaking, Highly recommend!

In this day and age with everything going on in the world, more places should operate with the excellent customer service and human understanding that Camino Verde does. Fuego lodge, is a family-owned business located in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. We offer 8 units, One and Two-bedroom apartments, a Penthouse or Honeymooners Suite, 3 Pool Front Suites for up to 4 persons each, and 2 Standard King Rooms for couples or singles. All have AC, private bathroom with hot water, free Wi-Fi, Fridge, safe & Coffee Maker. Some also have fully equipped kitchens. Daily cleaning service and fresh towels are included in all arrangements. We are located in Santa Teresa, about 1.5 miles from Mal Pais’ main cross road, inside a gated property, on a private and quiet location, off the street yet in the middle of everything, 5 minutes walk from groceries stores, bakery, pizza places, 7-8 restaurants, yoga centers, and with beach access only 500ft from here.

Reviewed By Leah WLovely hotel, great location, delicious breakfast, great rooms, super clean and tranquil. The beautiful pool area felt like a premium experience on a reasonable budget. Staff were really helpful when it came to arranging excursions and airport shuttles. My one complaint is that there are no reception staff at night and after 9pm you need a key code to get back in. This wouldn’t be an issue except that one night we got back after a power cut earlier in the evening and the keypad had stopped working even after the power came on. We were locked out of the hotel and it was doubly stressful as it was our last night and we were due to be picked up at 6:30am to be taken to the airport. So all our belongings, including passports, were trapped inside and we were trapped outside. We called the only contact number we had for any hotel staff and there was no answer - and it was only about 9:30, not the middle of the night. In the end I managed to climb into the hotel by scaling the 9 foot door in the perimeter wall and crawling through a small gap in the top of it, and letting my boyfriend in from the inside. However if this happened to a party that didn’t contain someone agile enough to climb the gate and small enough to fit through the gap above the door, it could have resulted in a night sleeping on the beach and a very expensive, long journey back to the UK if we’d missed our flight. I only bring this up so that the hotel are aware of it and can come up with a solution to the problem (maybe an emergency number that guests can call outside of reception hours) as it was an otherwise perfect stay!

Our host Carlos and his lovely family were the most gracious and hospitable hosts we've ever experienced. Everything about Casa Batsu - the room, the grounds, the setting and the delicious breakfast were spectacular. Our breakfast was servered by Carlos, who is also the chef, in several small courses, beautifully presented and so very, very good. Carlos even took us into town which is a couple of miles from Casa Batsu to find a restaurant for dinner. Our room was perfect with fresh flowers and petals everywhere - in the shower, on the bed. It was so very charming. (So many flower petals, we left them a message?). The room was quaint and very comfortable with a bath much nicer than most resorts. Our only disappointment is we were there for only one night. Had we known what an amazing experience it would be, we would have changed our itinerary to stay longer. This is the only place to stay if you’re visiting Monteverde. Thank you Carlos and family for our memorable stay!!

The tour was really well run and experiencing the bioluminescence up close was one I will never forget, so sparkly. Tom and Vigdis were perfect hosts and it was really interesting to spend time with them and learn about their experience of living in Costa Rica. Would recommend channelling your inner Robinson Crusoe and spend some time at this amazing property.

The house is a wooded building, with an ocean view balcony, located away from the main town, but just 200 meters from the beach; it also has a tropical garden with a lot of forest in the backyard, a lot of wildlife is spotted from the balcony. Yamileth and Pedro Caravaca offer rooms with a ceiling fun, and hot water shower, free breakfast, laundry service, tours with the best guide in the area. The hotel is located in very private place with the best views and the best service.
Unforgettable Nature Experience: Casa Bosque Balcony
Reviewed By scotte278Pedro found us on the beach and drove us the short but steep trip up where we were staying near the main house: the "Casa Bosque" or "Forest House". It doesn't look like much upon arrival besides being adjacent to some trees near the driveway and having an elevated, inclined ramp walkway leading to the door. Inside is an airy cabin with a double bed, two twin beds, an adjoining bathroom and kitchenette. There's two big windows and two ceiling fans, the latter we used on high basically the whole time while inside during the day because it was so hot. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, looking kind of north out over Drake Bay. It's relatively secluded, with lots of vegetation and trees, which on the second day meant we had a bunch of monkeys jumping from our roof to branches right next to us. It was stunning to see them so close, and I've shared a picture of them and a big iguana that was constantly hanging out in one of the trees. The sounds of the birds and forest are almost constant which I loved. We were warmly greeted by Yami, the hostess, and she suggested we connect via whatsapp so she could help arrange tours or answer questions which was nice. She got us a couple spots on a snorkel tour the next day even though it had seemed they were all booked up, which was super helpful. We arranged breakfast timing and whether we wanted gallo pinto or pancakes that way, too. Yami, Pedro, and the rest of the staff are kind and accommodating. I need to lose some weight so the short walk up the steep hill a couple times a day got me closer to that, but since it's so steep and someone in a wheelchair wouldn't be able to access the Casa Bosque I wanted to make a note of it. Overall you do feel like you are suddenly away from the beach and high in a forest, and for the nature immersion alone I'd give it 5 stars. The hospitality was excellent and room had what we needed to ensure we could make the most of it. Thank you Yami and Pedro!

THIS IS WHY WE BOOKED , We Travel to Costa Rica Twice a year and never had been Tricked with fraud ads. The rooms were not Nice at all I was not expecting the JW Marriott But I was expecting a FUNCTIONAL BATHROOM THEY CHARGE YOU FOR COFFEE IN THE MORNING !! WTF IS THAT ??? I’ve never been charged for Coffee at any hotel in CR No Coffee Makers in rooms !!! The Food is horrible By the Way. HOW CAN ANYBODY SCREW UP A FISH DISH ? DO NOT STAY HERE EVERY OTHER HOTEL IS NICE IN MA BUT THIS ONE . BEWARE

Warning: Crowing Rooster at 4am Every Morning at ‘Peace of Paradise’
Reviewed By kevinraf3131I have been a Booking.com customer (Genius) for some 25 years or so, and never, ever, have I been forced to move out of a booked hotel. On the first morning at 4am at this hotel, I was woken up by the loud crowing of a rooster from an adjacent holding – it went on for hours. I was not warned about this problem, so I could have made an informed choice. In effect, I was misled because I had booked this property for 7 nights and paid in full. A staff member then recommended ear plugs which I purchased from a nearby pharmacy. However, the very next morning, the rooster started to crow around 4am again. Therefore, I had no alternative but to move out to another hotel for the next 5 nights and pay for the new hotel as well as Peace of Paradise. When I explained to staff that I was moving, one staff member admitted that the rooster problem was upsetting them too but mitigated that they were preoccupied in finding a solution to the noisy nightclub nearby (I did hear loud music, but the piercing repetitive rooster crows were taking priority in the upsetting stakes for me personally). Another staff member said that I would be refunded the monies I had paid out for Peace of Paradise hotel in full. Nevertheless, when Booking.com informed them of the cancellation (after 2 nights) they refused to refund any monies and said: “I’m sorry but domesticated as well as wild animals are an integral part of the Costa Rica culture and experience.” How insulting, expecting guests to put up with a rooster that crowed loudly every morning. ‘Peace of Paradise’, it was more like ‘Piece of Purgatory’. I had prepared for natural animal sounds and was not expecting man-made and constant screeches from domestic fowl at 4.am. Besides, I was forced to pay for 5 nights that I wasn’t even there. If you don’t take my word for it that the rooster noise pollution exists, email the property before you book and ask if there is a rooster nearby that crows very early in the morning. You might also ask if they are having problems regarding a noisy nightclub – also nearby. I will never book more than one night with Booking.com again. I cannot trust some of the hotels they advertise, and when things go wrong (as seen in this case) loyal customers have no redress because the hotels in question have already taken payment in advance.
