Not quite four star

Reviewed By Bob R

The same dinner menu is repeated daily and becomes less attractive if staying longer than three days. Fortunately there are reasonable restaurants in nearby Morpeth, but they defeat the drink/drive advantage of the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast deal.

Perfectly rural

Reviewed By Michael H

An excellent B&B in every respect. Immaculately clean and well-provisioned bedrooms and shower rooms; strong enough wi-fi; good choices for breakfast; easy off-road parking; convenient for the A1 main road; very obliging owners. It couldn't be more rural and so is not within easy walking of a town or village, but very convenient by car for Morpeth and places to the north.

Amazing Location; Food; and Service

Stayed 3 nights to visit various locations in Newcastle, the Coast, and Northumberland. The location is handy for all 3,quiet country village without the noise and hassle of staying in the City and free off-road parking. Clean, good size room with superb Northumberland Breakfasts, realy set you up for the day. Stayed at the Restaurant for evening meals which were freshly cooked to order and tasted amazing. My wife is Coeliac and requires Gluten Free Dishes which were no problem (the Chef is similarly Gluten intolerant) The staf were all very friendly and helpful, Beth being particularly helpful in looking up on-line information for our following days itinery while we ate our evening mea. Did I say the food was delicious. This was our second stay at the Beresford Arms and we will definitelty go back there again, and again

Poor service

Went for lunch on a nice day and asked to sit outside with some food . We were told no food outside. I said 2 men outside with food. I was told that they were pub execs. However we did sit outside "as special favour" Barman swept up all around us as we ate. Went back for a sandwich some weeks later in an almost empty pub at about 1.15. We were told they didnt have the staff availability for food. I said we only wanted a sandwich. Told no.

The Morpeth Inn (formerly Morpeth Lodge) is a family run guest house centrally situated in the historic market town of Morpeth in the heart of the gateway to Northumberland. Run down.

You get what you pay for, that's all well and good but I think some TLC is desperately needed. Room was tired and just about passable. It's cheap and central so serves a purpose. Car park at rear, receptionist friendly enough.

The Auction House

Quirky, friendly, stylish...but awful bathroom

Reviewed By K H

This room was better than an average room above a pub. It was so quirky with a corse, copper bath and 4 poster shabby chic. However I can't understand why they'd have the room with a generous size, and squeeze the bathroom into what was more like a cupboard. It felt claustrophobic in there for just using the loo yet alone showering. The bed was nice and comfortable though and the staff were friendly and helpful. I wish we'd had time to eat and drink in the bar itself as the menu looked decent and the tables were, like the rooms, quirky and well designed. I also loved that, in keeping with the Auction House name, everything with a tag on it is for sale. Overall, a nice enough stay, but not worth anywhere near the price.

Popular village style pub B&B with good restaurant meals

Reviewed By Sheena-Steve

We stayed for 2 nights at this B&B, driving through the beautiful Northumberland countryside you find this quaint traditional pub at a road junction. It has outside seating as well as restaurant, lounge and bar area and has 2 coal fires . If you are looking for atmosphere this place has lots and very friendly staff. Its worth stopping for a meal if you are passing but if wanting to stay and explore local area like we did its also a good place. they stop serving food about 9pm and so on our first night the pub was quite quiet when we went to bed but 2nd night was a Friday and there was some noise as pub busy when we went to bed. The pub has a varied menu and portions were large, make sure you leave room for dessert as I cannot describe how good they were. The area is lovely, we visited Rothbury, Morpeth and Amble in same day so much. Well worth visiting this cute B&B

A bit of a mixed stay

Reviewed By MarcusHurley

We stayed here for a night after a road trip through Scotland. There is a small car park in the hotel courtyard and the option of parking at the front but I think only from 6PM - 8AM. The hotel charges budget prices and includes breakfast. However our experience was that the room (Room 3 I think) and corridors leading to it were dark and with grubby decor. We couldn't get the shower to work with hot water and we couldn't get the wifi to work with either password we were given. On the plus side the bed was really comfortable, the towels were some of the nicest I've used and the location was excellent. Service was good and the breakfast was decent too.
