The White House is a delightful 15th Century Grade II listed manor house set in one acre of attractive gardens providing a relaxing atmosphere for all. Having been awarded 4 Yellow Stars by the AA for its outstanding facilities and service and the prestigious Enjoy England Silver Award, The White House is also highly recommended by the English Tourist Board. Having been refurbished by Mike and Linda, The White House offers first class bed and breakfast accommodation in comfortable surroundings.
Let's start with the Guest House itself. Great value for money, the cheapest BY FAR and parking for £5 a night what more could you want! We arrived late Saturday night and flew early Sunday and wanted to get a taxi sorted. The owner gave us a handful of taxi firms to use and we quickly got one booked. The room was lovely and homely, just what we needed and had a coffee machine and fridge etc. The shower was great and everywhere was clean and tidy. Ideal place if travelling from Stansted and about a 7 minute drive from the terminal! Now to the hosts.. We flew back in the middle of storm Eunice and after a horrendous flight and the chaos in the airport as a result of the weather disruption, we could not find a taxi or transport back to the guest house to collect our car. I called the guest house and asked if they knew any other taxi firms we could try as the 41 minute walk in the storm wasn't taking my fancy. Without hesitation the owner told us to make our way to the Raddison Hotel and he would collect us and bring us back to the guest house!!! He was amazing and made our awful day so much easier. He was there within 10 minutes and got us back to the car straight away and we will be forever grateful for that so thank you so much! Will definitely stay here again and we are so grateful for the owners going above and beyond for their guests!

The Hope Hotel is situated on the seafront, right across the road from the beach, the world's longest pier and theme park "Adventure Island". It is 5 minutes from the High Street and shopping centre with plenty of carparks. The Hope Hotel's rooms offer beautiful sea views with home cooked breakfast included in the price. The restaurant is open all day and closes over the winter months. We also offer 10 en suite bedrooms in two guest houses in the next road only three minutes away. Most of these rooms have a fridge, wi fi and Sky TV all included in the booking price. These rooms do not have a sea view but offer a quiet peaceful setting.
I didn't realise that our £100- a-night twin room did not have ensuite facilities, which was my fault. The shower block and 2 bathrooms were on the floor below us, and the toilet was down the corridor. Both shower and bath facilities were enclosed without windows, and it was obvious from the smell that the showers had been used as a urinal. Our beds were comfortable, and our room had a pleasant sea & pier view. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendy and helpful. There is no lift in this building.

Didn't actually stay....supposed to be overnighting following a comedy festival. The room was so poor we drove 2 hours home instead ! The website images bear no relation to reality, false marketing, and basically taking money under false pretences

Family run business and they couldn’t do enough for the stay. Room and all amenities were great. Lots to do in and around the the area and spent quality time with family. Great location to visit all local sea-side attractions and good bars. Did not stop laughing, very enjoyable stay and would recommend.

My partner and I have needed to get away for some time and a stay at Channels Lodge was the perfect way for us to relax and recharge. The room was great with a lovely big bed as well as large screen tv with the ability to cast and free wifi. Complimentary tea/coffee and continental breakfast as well as an in room fridge. The best part though was the bathroom. The room had a lovely large tub and a great shower. When we weren't relaxing in the room or enjoying some lovely walks in some gorgeous local country parks etc we had a fabulous meal in the Channels Brasserie. I highly recommend this venue.

The Oyster Smack Inn is a charming local restaurant with rooms, built in the 1800’s. The building is full of character and sets the scene for an outstanding and extremely popular local inn. Owned and run by chef patron Trevor Howell and his wife Claire, the pub has become the first port of call for those seeking excellent food in friendly, relaxed and stylish surroundings. The newly decorated dining room and bar are both classic and timeless, the coastal shades of the decor providing a serene backdrop to the dining experience. Wooden floors and hand-made furniture all work to create a feeling of quiet elegance. The coastal location means that The Oyster Smack Inn can take full advantage of the freshest of seafood and our menu utilises this to full effect. The team in the kitchen are passionate about using the finest produce from local suppliers. Changing seasonally, our dinner menu offers the best of modern British food whilst your favourite classic pub dishes can be found on our lunch menu. Whether you are looking dine out with family and friends or to entertain clients, at The Oyster Smack Inn you can celebrate a very special occasion or simply pop in for a light snack - our kitchens are happy to oblige, whatever your needs.
Another very enjoyable visit to The Oyster Smack, great food, extremely good service a very pleasant atmosphere and fantastic cocktails to boot. The menu offer a great selection and the vegetarian options are very good. We will be visiting again very soon

The parking signage needs to be better. I was given an "upgrade " to a double upon check in but when I found out it was on a ground floor in the building across the main road...I politely declined, stating single female travellers should not be given ground floor rooms. The receptionist ( william) laughed. Not funny...get professional! So I was put back into my single room which was nothing special. The bed rolled across the floor each time I moved but I couldn't care less. Bathroom was a good size and water pressure in the morning good. Windows were very old...single glazed...staying here in winter would have been a disaster. The whole block of rooms was quiet, thankfully, but I could hear people sneezing in rooms around me. I didn't mind the planes taking off above us, the noise didn't bother me at all. Overall I found the place decent enough for the money I paid. Would I stay again? I guess so.
