Friends, sun, sand and sea. That sounds like a summer to me. Three beachbars located on the Belgian shore. One for chilling, one for kids big and small and another for playing.

De Panne Beach

Miles of clean sand running all the way up this coast. We tour in a motorhome so can't comment on parking as we walked to the beach from our camp site but there seems to be lots of parking available though. The beach is huge and has clearly marked out areas for different activities (sun bathing, kite surfing etc). We used the end with the (modern) statue of King Leopald. This section is dog-friendly all year (we visited in July). Popular with families as it has plenty of Life Guards, beach huts, free toilets and ice cream trollies! There's a good selection of restaurants and bars on the prom - all well-prepared for the prevailing winds with glass shelters and wind breaks. Likewise for the sun-worshippers amongst you, there are plenty of areas you can hire in the middle section of the beach that have built-in wind breaks. Not sure of the pricing as we didn't use them. Kids will love it here as there's a mad selection of quirky bikes, scooters and mini-quads for hire on the wide prom. There's a big wheel at the other end of the beach, a bouncy castle at the King Leopald end together with an old carousel. All in all, something for everyone and literally miles and miles of sand!

the most quiet beach on the belgain coast i guess..Beautifull center with lots of restaurants and bars. If you love the old and cousy architecture from the Belgian coast then visit this place instead of the ugly big buildings at the other places on the Belgian coast side

Plage d'Ostende

Reviewed By 828sg - Albany, United States

The beach is clean and like everything in Ostend, it is designed to make your visit enjoyable. For people with kids, there are markers every 100 feet or so with different shapes (like a smiley face or an airplane) so it's easy not to forget your place on the beach. Snacks, drinks and beer are available on the promenade which runs for miles along the beach. And during the summer, the town erects bars and restaurants right on the beach! It is so nice to sit and have a snack under a palm tree! The sunsets are incredible and the people are very friendly and helpful. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure everyone else is having a good time. The train station is maybe a ten minute walk from the beach. There are so many places to stay and with everything there is to see and do in Ostend and the surrounding area, it makes sense to stay a while! There is everything from a great hostel to apartments for rent and every level of hotel in between. Take the world's longest coastal tram up and down the entire length of the country in under 3 hours star to finish - but stop along the way and explore the dozen or so towns along the way. The food in Ostend is excellent - ranging from food stands to rated restaurants. Enjoy this amazing seaside town and you will fall in love with the beach and the town!
