Not many art works at this museum but the building/environment is an integral part of the experience. The best is this white room where 5 Monet paintings are displayed; you put on slippers to enter. Online ticketing system restrict number of people. Was there low season (December) so didn't need to book but show up and buy a ticket. Took me under 1 hour to enjoy the three exhibits, enjoy the architecture and have a drink at the cafe.

The Otsuka Museum of Art is a "Ceramic board masterpiece art museum" with the largest exhibition space in Japan. Inside, there are more than 1,000 ceramic reproductions of Western art. Otsuka Pharmaceutical's pet project to make the world's art pieces accessible to the world. Built inside a mountain, on the tip of Shizuoka is this museum of ceramic replicates of the world's greatest art pieces. Probably one of the only places one can see modern greats like Andy Warhol, Salvatore Dali, and Picasso all on one floor. To see the most famous pieces of Michael Angelo, Van Goh, Gaugin, Renior, Rafael, Rodrigues, Vermeer, Rubins all in one building is pretty amazing. They have a recreation, in its exact dimensions, the Sistine Chapel. Rooms devoted to the annunciation, self-portraits, and recreation of Monet's Nymphéas outside. While these are only exact replicas, it is a great way to see and appreciate these masterpieces in the same building. You can do comparisons without having to travel around the globe. It really builds appreciation for art and culture. Currently, there is a COVID19 shortened free guided tour of about 40 minutes. Regularly it is 2 hours. In Japanese only. There is an audio guide for a fee. Available in many languages. Parking is very far away but there are shuttle busses that come every few minutes to shuttle you back and forth.

Kahoku-cho in Kami City, kochi Prefecture is the land of Takashi Yanase, creator of Anpanman. Located in this tiniest of towns, the Anpanman Museum is a spiritual home for those who love Anpanman. There is no difficult art here, and there are no suggested paths. Wander around however you like and see if you can find Anpanman and his friends hiding here and there throughout the museum.

Photographs don't do justice to the power of this place. Profoundly spiritual experience. The breathtaking architecture and the subtle, mesmerising art installation form such a perfect whole. We stayed for almost 90 minutes in near silence, just sitting on the floor, watching the droplets of water first form and then launch on their serendipitous journeys, watching the breeze play with a white ribbon, observing others observing the water drops, walking around the curving, circular structure and feeling very moved by it all.

Who is Ekin? What is Ekingura? In the 1800s, He worked as an official painter of Tosa aristocracy. (Kochi used to be called Tosa in the Edo era.) However, trouble found him, so he left on a long journey that had no plan nor destination. After a long journey, he reached Akaoka where his aunt lives. Here he created his art in a sake warehouse. Now, his art is displayed in Ekingura. Please visit to feel the beautifully frightening energy that is Ekingura．
