TL:DR noisy

Reviewed By Gillian S

Overall, we had a pleasant stay but the one thing that stood out above all else was the approach to entertainment. We arrived past midnight and were given a room very close to reception and the terrace where music was still being played and guests were talking loudly until 3am. The following night was worse and the noise reached over 80 decibels inside our room at 12:30am. I asked at reception what time we could expect this to stop and was dismissed with a hand flap to go ask the animation team. I did and was told that it would continue until everyone had 'stopped having a good time'. Thank heavens for Irene who moved us the following day to a, technically inferior, room but one far removed from the thumping music and drunken guest behaviour. After that we could sleep finally and began having a better time. No-one in the animation team seems to know how to operate a sound system as around the pool we were subjected to loud 20 second blasts of various songs then silence again. Volume jumped, songs ended abruptly or were badly mixed with others and the aqua aerobics volume forced some to retreat to the other pool. Other than noise: - rooms were clean, beds comfy and the air con very efficient. Take all own toiletries as the shampoo/ body wash will strip all moisture from hair and skin. - views are stunning - try to breakfast early on the balcony for the best sun and quiet. - Maria tries her best but they really need more people on the pool bar or bigger cups to save so many repeat trips. The choice of drinks is limited. - the day trip we went on (organised through reception but not run by the hotel) was fun but badly run. The packed lunch we got from reception was decent (and unexpected) but they do not cater for vegans. - food was standard. My sister thoroughly enjoyed one day's only vegan option of steamed cauliflower... I thoroughly enjoyed shellfish allergy roulette when finding prawns in quite a few dishes where prawns should not be. The slight obsession with 'turkey cheese' was interesting too. - late checkout is €50. Don't bother as there's luggage storage and the option of using a room for 20 minutes to have a shower - enjoy the gardens. Some of the flowers are stunning and their beauty will detract from the slightly sewage smell that comes and goes. - the way back from the beach is steep - wear lots of sunscreen and drink lots of water :)

Beautiful hotel with great food

Beautiful hotel with lots of flowers and green. When we arrived we got an upgraded room with a big balcony and a nice view over the entire area. (though all the balconies seem to have a nice view). The rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Because we were travelling with a young child, we opted for the included dinner. Every night we got to choose between different options for each course. The food was very good and portions were large. The breakfastbuffet was excellent. In conclusion; Everything was great! I would definitely recommend this hotel!

You are really on the peninsula with spectacular views and cuisine

We had the most amazing time at the Peninsula Resort and Spa. The spa itself is wonderful. I had a facial and a full body massage and fell asleep during the facial it was so good! They also have a steam room and sauna and indoor pool for after your treatments. As for the pools, they are amazing for children! I have a 7 and 11 year and we’ve been coming here from the USA for the past 4 years because it never disappoints and you have everything you need; my kids love the salt water pool because there are numerous areas to jump into the water and the pool with the water slides. You also have access to two sand beaches, a platform beach (my personal favorite) with a bar so you can drink you coffee and eat and relax and swim in the warm crystal clear sea all day and into the evening. The views are unobstructed and unreal. I feel a peace and calm here. This is why we always come back. The staff are amazing, the food is top notch and there’s always something fresh and new available. We highly recommend vacationing here. The staff love children - they aren’t a bother - they are welcomed! But there are plenty of travelers without kids too so it’s a nice mix. The photos are not exaggerating. This is what the hotel is like!

Absolutely fantastic

Stayed here with my wife to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary and we had a great time. Resort is built on a hill so has lots of slopes and stairs but don't let that deter you as the team are more than happy to run you from place to place on the golf buggies 24/7 We booked a Superior room with Independent pool which was absolutely beautiful however all the rooms are a very high standard. We requested to be moved to be a bit closer to the main ares and this was done the next morning with no fuss and the room was even better than the original. Food is fantastic and a wide variety for everybody, all inclusive drinks are good quality with London beefeater gin and ballentines whisky, local beer is great and the house wines served with lunch and dinner are very nice. 4 restaurants including the main and another 3 you can use for 1 night each, spa is 1st class and comes highly recommended. If you want to go out there is a lovley beech at the bottom of the road which also has a selection of bars and souvenir shops. If you want to go shopping the local buss stops right outside the hotel reception and for under 4 euros you can take a trip to Heraklion which is a great city to visit. Book this hotel, you will not be disappointed!

No need to buy toiletpaper but bring your own stuff for doing the washing-up, etc. Only handsoap but I got a big plate of fresh fruit, big bottle ofwater and bottle of wine. Efcharisto Joanna!
