Embrace yourself for Bad Hygiene Practices, Bad Staff Behaviour towards each other, Poor Quality Food, Bad Customer Services, Lying Staff, Disgusting Bathroom and More....  My friend and I checked into this hotel for 1 night. We were extremely tried from a long day at Alton Towers and were very hungry. We went straight to the restaurant to make our dinner reservation. The 2 young girls serving in the dining room were pleasant but very inexperienced and didn't know how to serve or deal with customers. They didn't know anything about the drinks or food being served and constantly kept giving us either the wrong information, or guessing without checking with the kitchen. One of the girls knocked cutlery off one of the other tables onto the floor and just picked it up and put it back. I had to tell her that she shouldn't do that because it's contaminated and needs to be put in a fresh one. The dining room was not busy at all but it took an hour just to get the correct drinks. Food wasn't good, the soup was overly peppery, the steak was chewy, my sauce didn't arrive, black pepper was all over my chips which I couldn't eat. My friend's dinner wasn't as described at all and she didn't like it. We complained to the manager, who was defensive and argumentative. We had to prove printing errors on the menu as he didn't believe us. He offered to redo our food, we were so wound up but we were so hungry and had been in the dining room for 2 hours at this point for our food so we agreed. But sadly the manager stormed into the kitchen and all we heard was crashing, banging and him shouting and swearing at his staff and having a massive argument. We were absolutely horrified and disgusted. He came out of the kitchen and we told him to cancel our meal as we are not going to be around this hostile environment, he made no attempt to apologise. He made the hand under the neck signal to the kitchen staff to cancel the order and didn't say a word to us. We went back to the reception room to make a complaint to the general manager, who we were told wasn't available until morning. I was quite emotional and was in tears. We are not used to being in a confrontational environment and felt very uncomfortable. My friend and I have to take medication and can't go on an empty stomach. We asked for some biscuits or something from the bar as a snack because we hadn't eaten and we were told no and that if we had waited 10 mins our food would have been cooked. Strange how we waited so long for our food, but would have only taken 10 mins to cook everything again? So, at this point we were extremely tired, hungry and upset from the complaint and now we just want to relax, have a shower and get a good sleep as we had to be up early the next morning. We got into our room and I was absolutely and utterly horrified beyond belief. The bathroom floor and shower area was the most disgusting scene I have ever witnessed in all my life. I have never seen a floor this dirty before and mold all along the shower curtains. As a wheelchair user, with the EXACT wet room floor at home I couldn't believe my eyes (I have taken a photo of my floor to show you what the colour should be). My friend got a simple wet wipe and the colour of it speaks for itself. This floor hadn't been cleaned in months!! A simple mop would have gotten some of this dirt out. If this was months of ingrained dirt then a wet wipe would have been white. We immediately called the evening receptionist in to have a look. She was emotionless and we were pretty shocked by her lack of reaction. We asked for towels to cover the floors as there was no way in hell I was walking on that floor with my bare feet. To be honest, that carpet would probably be absolutely covered in germs from people walking on the bathroom floor and then walking on the carpets, it's not even bare thinking about. So I didn't even take my shoes or socks off whilst inside that room, which obviously made my stay even more uncomfortable and an inconvenience. The receptionist gave us 2 tiny hand towels, apparently that's all she had! which was hardly any use but we managed it. We didn't wash our hair with no hairdryer and no towels for our hair. We didn't like the attitude of the evening receptionist as we asked for a couple extra things like a duvet and she really wasn't pleasant. We spoke to the general manager in the morning, who advised she was on call all night and no one contacted her and there was plenty of extra towels we could have used! (We were not surprised that the night receptionist lied to us). We did ask if rooms are checked regularly and she said yes, but obviously this room is missed and I don't know how many more rooms are being missed either. The manager said the reason for the floor being that dirty is that deep clean hasn't been done in 2 months but agreed there is no excuse as a mop would have improved the condition of this floor and she was embarrassed.  The manager didn't offer us any compensation. I asked for a full refund and she declined saying that we did stay and we didn't have to stay. I said we'll it was 11pm at night, I have special needs and I am in a wheelchair and I couldn't just leave and find somewhere else. The manager said if she was contacted she could have found us somewhere else for us to stay. We said but that didn't happen so that's not our fault is it? (I don't think people realise how difficult it is for wheelchair users who need wet room accommodation to find hotels these days, it's not easy). We ended up getting a 50% refund and will not be returning

An OK conference centre but needs some TLC

Reviewed By Hezekiah312

I attended a two-day conference at Yarnfield Park. There is a good sized car park and everything is well signposted. The conference facilities are not bad but there were issues with the IT provided e.g. screens kept going blank. There are certainly an adequate number of rooms for break-out sessions. The catering is OK but nothing special. Chicken curry was rather dry and the sweet course was either bought in cakes or (my choice) a fresh fruit salad. Breakfast was acceptable but had been clearly kept warm for some time. The porridge was lumpy and almost inedible. The rooms were comfortable and warm but rather tired and in need of modernisation. The staff, when you could find them, were pleasant but the reception was not manned at lunchtime and there were about 15 people who needed to speak to someone. Pressing the "summon staff" button had no effect. Overall adequate but could be so much better.

Very nice venue

Reviewed By William S

My wife and I visited today for a relaxing day before we start our new business. The reception was good and informative, a wee spritzer and relax before being shown around. The Spa facilities are very good indeed and even though busy it didn't feel over crowded. The Spa treatment was excellent, very relaxing and expertly performed. Two course lunch was part of the day rate, reading the menu had me very excited, "Each and every bite is packed with a freshness and flavour that you simply cannot achieve without using locally sourced foods; once you sample our menus you are sure to agree" my wife and I are also keen cooks and in the catering business so we know this to be true, however after the excellent starter we both felt let down by the main course which was anything but bursting with flavour, in fact somewhat bland. That aside I would still be happy to visit again purely for the spa facilities and treatments. Oh and a small slice of cake weighs in at £5.00 a little rich to eat and drink but worth it for the tranquility.

Great location for Alton Towers

Reviewed By Beckiebule

I stayed in the barn with some friends after visiting Alton Towers for a day. It is in a great location that is quiet and peaceful. When we arrived, we had a code to access the key lock where the keys were so we could arrive at any time. We had a choice of 4 beds and a pull out bed from the sofa as well as three different shower areas which was ideal after a day at the theme park! The bed was super comfy and the bedding was nice and clean. We drove about 10 minutes away to get a Domino's but they would have delivered. We also had to go to the supermarket to get some milk to go with the breakfast we were given. There is also a resident cat who we found out via the guest book was called Poppy.
