First thing first, if you are looking for an gastronomic experience, you have to look an another place, this place is your average pizza chopshop.
The "Restaurant" is located along the main street and it is hard to miss the chopshop, the view is nothing to send a post card home about, and besides this there is nothing remarkable about the location.
When it comes to the food the only thing worth even trying is the pizza, which is passable, if you are very hungry and for some weird reason chooses Orion. the rest of the food is uneatable, the pasta and the fish is ALWAYS overcooked, they can't make a beef, even if their lives depends on it, and everything they make is made from prefabricated food, heated up, most likely in a microwave and served. And no matter what you order, it will be soaked in a industrial prefabricated sauce. So why pay way to much for food that you can buy at the local grocery store and heat up your self for the fraction of the cost?
Seeing the people who prepares the food, washing the garbage bin in their chef uniforms, makes me also question their hygienic standard.
So would I recommend Orion Steinkjer? Only if you have a though stomach, no taste buds, are really hungry and is not afraid for a tapeworm infection, for anybody else I would suggest, drive 30 minutes south, to a small town named Innerøy, the chances find genuine food, made from local grown and breed ingredients, with personality is better there.

The portions are generous and the price is fair. I especially liked their ethnic dishes, and I would recommend choosing one of them rather than the standard grill dishes.

A simple, basic Chinese restaurant, with no frills. But the food is really excellent, and is to be recommended. We have dined there several times, most recently 5th December, our wedding anniversary, and have no complaints.

I was very surprised to find a restaurant in this small rural town that could match the quality of an original Italian pizzeria. We ate there several times and all what was served was very good. Very cozy atmosphere. The only drawback is that they do not take orders at the tables.

Didn't expect this kind of a sushi experience in Steinkjer! We ordered two big boards full of different sushi that were a combination of creative and innovative and more traditional portions. For example, Mojito scallops & California rolls. All tasting and looking amazing.
The desserts were more european style, but very tasty too.
I highly recommend this place!!!

I will be honest! I walked through the front door with high hopes, but low expectations! My hopes for exclusive local cuisine were met in the best way! This place is really worth an extra stop if you ever get anywhere near arctic Steinkjer in the middle of Norway, Europe!
This is as Norwegian as it gets!

Evrerything oozes of grand-mother's kitchen - and that excuses the at times slightly confused service.
The shrimp-sandwiches are just like they ought to be - with too much shrimps and mayo to bite over in any polite and tidy way. But, it's the waffles that makes it - just as they ought to be, either with sour cream and strawberry jam, or butter and brown cheese.

Bølabua er et veldig bra stoppested både for å se, slappe av og spise. Man bør ta spaserturen ned til Bølareinen når man først er der. Fint å sitte ute. Veldig god mat. Kan anbefale både elgkjøttkakene og elgburgeren. Veldig godt-kan ikke sammenlignes med vanlig vegkro-mat.
