Holiday Inn Express Stafford, an IHG Hotel

Nice stopping point or overnight stop (in the cooler months)

Reviewed By Brizzle1973

Stayed here with work. Check in and parking was a breeze. The room was a standard HI Express room and had everything you need except AC. There is no AC with a small opening windows (standard restricted opening). The downside was the hotel is next to the M6 so there is constant noise and the room like an oven. I did not sleep well. We had dinner at the pub across from the hotel which was lovely and friendly staff. Breakfast was nice ,standard HI Express breakfast although the juices was very watered down and had no taste.

Less than the sum of its parts

Reviewed By Otyikondo

This is a difficult one. There was nothing intrinsically wrong with this place, and it was a convenient overnight stop in a pretty canal-side location with longboat moorings, close to the M6, but sometimes I guess things are less than the sum of their parts, and for us The Moat House was unfortunately just that. The superior room was quiet and comfortable without being particularly cosy, the bathroom suffered from the all-too-usual "soaking wet floor" problems, reception was efficient rather than cordial, dinner in the bar ticked the box but was somehow un-memorable, and really the only highlight was breakfast, a buffet affair set out in an attractive room, and with a very pleasant waitress serving us tea and coffee and toast and so on. By then, however, the damage had been done, as it were. I'm not quite sure where the issue lies, but my hunch would be that the place deals more in groups and functions and celebrations and wedding receptions than in individual guests. A good many of the reviews here seem to suggest this. It reminded me rather too much of a large chain hotel we stayed in in Jerusalem that was all efficiency and no smiles. But perhaps it was just us. Like I said, there was nothing you could put your finger on, but The Moat House did not present itself as terribly "warm and welcoming", if that's what you want in a hotel.

Great place to stay

I stayed for a night while in the area for work. The hotel was great, smart decor and comfortable rooms with a good bar and restaurant, pie of the day was great and a good breakfast choice. Make sure you use the right postcode for the car park, I did and it was fine, but could be complicated.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Premier travel Inn at Trentham Gardens. When I booked I asked for a room on the ground floor as my husband is disabled and they didn't disappoint. Checking in was easy and very efficiently done. We opted for a meal in the restaurant and we were very pleased with the portions and the price. The hotel is pleasantly located near to the garden centre and the shopping village. The staff are extremely friendly, hard working and efficient. There is an added bonus of free WiFi,also very useful.

Great value and great team!

Chose to stop over on a trip on 6th June. the hotel was really comfortable, clean, shower had great pressure and had everything you needed for a basic stay. We arrived at midnight (past usual check in time) due to traffic on the way but the lady on reception was very welcoming and took the time to explain where to go and what to do if we needed anything in the night. Had breakfast in the restaurant in the morning (7th) and all the team on were super friendly, very welcoming and cheerful. Overall a really lovely place to stay. The rooms are fantastic value for the price and they breakfast was excellent value and very good and overall all the team we came across were very cheerful and welcoming. Thank you :)

Borough Arms Hotel

The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is very much of the style associated with a traditional English town centre coaching inn, yet has been sensitively and subtly refined to offer the comfort and modern standards demanded by today's visitors. Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many period features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. Mixed opinion

Reviewed By JackoMiddlesbrough

The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside and there are some interesting exhibits on show. Staff were polite and helpful in the main, one member of staff gave us conflicting and baffling information about the swimming pool, until the manager stepping in and gave us the correct info. The hotel is in need of a make over, corridors leading to the rooms are shabby in parts with damaged and peeling wallpaper, also the carpet in our room was coming away near where it meets the tiled area exposing the carpet grips which were quite sharp. Lastly the food and drink is vastly overpriced, and fairly average, I had a cup of coffee that was barely warm, it was exchanged for another cup of tepid coffee.
