St. Ives boasts a quartet of golden-sand beaches. Sheltered coves draw swimmers and sun-worshippers, but water-sports aficionados visit St. Ives for great surfing, windsurfing and water-skiing conditions. And on your way there, keep your eyes peeled for a dude with seven wives. You never know when nursery rhymes might come true.

Absolutely excellent!

Reviewed By AvidTraveller256

We stayed at Headland House for two nights, and from our arrival to departure we were continuously taken aback by the brill hospitality! Mark is an excellent host, taking the time to speak to us and give us advice on our travels! He was so accommodating and kind, a genuinely lovely person! Breakfast was delicious and they were happy to make amendments for me (vegetarian), the room was cosy and fully equipped with everything we needed (including a daily delivery of freshly baked goods), the location is great (2 minute walk to train station which was great as driving around central St Ives isn’t something we wanted to attempt), our room had a beautiful view of the water too. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when visiting St Ives! 10/10 would recommend.

My partner and I had a wonderful back, shoulder and head massage as well as a leg & foot massage and a facial. The masseuses were amazing and very professional. Felt very relaxed the entire time during treatment and had use of the facilities before our treatments. Very recommended for a treat. Big thank you to everyone at the spa in St.Ives harbour hotel!

Lovely accommodation, brilliant breakfasts and welcoming team

We had the pleasure of five nights at the Gannet Inn for our honeymoon. It is well located in Carbis Bay for trips to the beach, St Ives and other amenities. The welcome we received was very warm. Special thanks to Helen for your recommendations and Ryan at breakfast times. Our room, Kittiwake, was on the top floor and had a lovely sea view. We were able to take advantage of the offer to spend half a day at the nearby Carbis Bay Hotel and Spa, overlooking the beach. I would recommend guests with mobility issues research the transport options as the hill back to the inn from the beach is very steep! Overall we loved our stay and will come back again. Thank you all!

Carbis Bay Estate

Rude and Unwelcoming

Reviewed By Martin167346

We decided to pop in here for a quick drink whilst in Carbis Bay. We went to the first bar and were told to go to the other one as they were fully booked - it was midday and pretty empty but fair enough. We went to the other bar which was empty except for one table but we were told that we could only sit inside if we were eating. We said this was fine so ordered our drinks and sat outside, but shortly after a man came and asked us to move as the table was apparently not part the bar, despite being directly outside it. All the other tables had ‘reserved’ signs on so we asked where we could sit, we were directed back up to the original bar we had asked to sit at and told to sit on the deck chairs outside. Within 30 seconds of sitting down someone came out and advised these chairs weren’t for sitting on and we had to move! It was mortifying and we just wanted to leave but unfortunately had already paid £18 for two glasses of wine so had to drink them standing up!

Wedding

Me and my partner Jenna got married here then stayed the night and it was a fantastic day/experience. We had around 60 guests with more coming in the evening and everything went perfectly no thanks to Harriet and the main man Stefan ! Im not sure if these guys work every wedding but you need to ask for them as they were brilliant. Always had a drink in our hands, guiding us from here to there making sure we were on time, and anything we needed we just had to ask and 30 seconds later it was done. They really helped make our day special. The hotel itself was also great, really well looked after grounds against a stunning backdrop of St Ives, and very tidy inside. We have absolutely no complaints at all with the hotel or staff, if we were to get married again, we would pick Tregenna in a heartbeat. Also a special thank you to the security man on the gate, great guy and he drove my disabled mum around in a golf buggy all day and made her feel like the queen.

Lost some of its character

We have stayed here many times over the years and have not been disappointed, until this visit. The substantial price increase does not reflect the experience. Staff were not as attentive as they used to be, although the quality of the breakfast is still good. Time for us to look for somewhere else we think!! Such a shame.

Shameful

The biggest waste of £180. We are local to St Ives, but love to spend the odd night in St Ives and treat ourselves to a nice meal. We checked into this hotel, which has long seen better days. We paid our money and went to our room. We were shocked, it was badly decorated, windows dirty, no spoons, rubbish bathroom and no TV reception. I know this is a tourist hotspot, and expect higher prices, but this place is a joke. Don't stay here!
