Southampton Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Southampton

April 24, 2023 Jana Sager

Southwest of London is Southampton (Soton to the locals), a metropolitan area centered around the port. However, tucked away on the side streets are ancient gems such as the Tudor House, Mottisfont Abbey, and "God's House," a museum located in a tower in the medieval wall. The ultra-modern Sea City Museum celebrates Southampton's seafaring past and the RMS Titanic. Looking for nightlife? Travelers can dance the hours away with bars, clubs, and live music, all accessible by public transportation.

Perfect wedding

Reviewed By SUEJEP

Just returned from a wedding at The Pig in the Wall. All the guests stayed over night after the reception. 5 stars do not do this place justice. The whole event was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The chef catered for all the different dietary needs of the guests. The staff were charming and couldn't do enough to make the day/evening/morning go smoothly. If you are looking for a venue for a small, informal wedding I would highly recommed The Pig in the Wall. Thank you to all the staff for making the day so special.

Work trip

I have just stayed here for work. On a 3 day course just down the road. The staff have been so friendly/helpful and polite. The breakfast is exceptional. There is so much to chose from. The double room is a good size and it's so quiet. The ensuite shower and toilet is compact but very clean and modern. I can't rate this hotel any higher. Would return if I was back. Up this way.

Not a nice place to stay

Reviewed By Jo H

We walked into our Non Smoking, room which literally wreaked of cigarettes, this was not the kind of smell that has happened overnight but the kind of smell that had happened over time and got into the curtains and the carpets. We told the hostess, who first stated that she’s knows that some of her guests place socks over the smoke alarms so they can secretly smoke in the rooms, the hostess did not appear to do anything to resolve this, apart from offer us a room next to the kitchen which it was clear someone had recently used. We only told her as we didn’t want to be blamed for smell of smoke upon leaving. The room also contained the personal hygiene items of the previous guest, who I can only think was the smoker and a regular. Although the breakfast stated it was Continental, Tupperware jars of cereal and a Tescos 4 pint semi skimmed milk bottle as far as I am aware does not count as a Continental breakfast. There was orange juice and coffee. The Hostess reluctantly offered us a hot option being “Egg”, so we said yes to poached, which came on normal bread with very little butter on it, however the poached eggs were fine. We travel quite often and have always been really pleased with B&B’s we have stayed in, in the past so its only to be expected to come across a poor one, definitely would not recommend staying here.

A great journey starts and ends with a good night's rest.

Jack was very welcoming and helpful. Room clean and tidy and enjoyable breakfast.

Reviewed By Colin1D

The current owner Jack has only been in for a month, he was very welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a double room on the first floor which was very clean and had a new thick (slightly bouncy) mattress and bedding. The room had a (small) TV, Tea & coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi had a strong signal. Breakfast consisted of a choice of cereals, yoghurts, prunes, bread/toast and jam, marmalade etc. A cooked breakfast was also provided which was very tasty. The accommodation is about 20 minutes’ walk from the town centre. We considered it good value for money and would happily stay there again when we visit Southampton. Good base for all local bars and Restaurants.

Pleasantly surprised as to how modern the room was. Had trouble with the front door at first. The room was very bright and as I said very modern style. Good sized bathroom/shower. All your cooking facilities were there if you wished to cook. We would stay here again and it was close to all bars and restaurants, and a 10 minute walk to the Soul event we attended that day/evening. NCP car park was just a 3 minute walk away too. We liked the property and would come to stay here again.
