Reviews on Contemporary food in Western Cape, South Africa. South Africa’s most popular tourist destination offers the urban thrills of Cape Town, its adjacent wine country and an aura of the rich political history of South Africa. The Overberg's perfect whale-watching perches provide excitement of a different nature. The Garden Route's lakes and forests and the Klein Karoo's ostrich-farming towns and vineyards present another take on the Cape. For extra kicks, try bungee jumping or cage-diving among Great Whites.

A state of the art dining room and cutting-edge kitchen sets the scene at Greenhouse, where produce of the Constantia Valley and the region are presented as culinary creations in an intimate taste space. Here guests are invited on a multi-sensory journey
Truly one of the best meals I've had, not only in South Africa, but anywhere. Quality, creativity and calibre and friendliness of staff all set the Greenhouse apart. It was so good the first time I went back the next time I was in town with friends. Also deeply appreciated the ability of the staff to cater to a finicky teenager who was looking for something less exciting than the full chef's tasting menu.

The setting is beautiful, if you have a young extended the youngsters can explore and play on the grounds, seems pet friendly. The service is professional and charming, the food was exquisite and the wine crisp and cooled.A stroll around the farm after lunch had many interesting surprises. Strongly recommended. We appreciate the review and your description of the added extra's one can experience when dining at the Camphors Restaurant. Unfortunately we are not pet friendly as we have a host of natural fauna that we need to nuture. Kind regardsSharon Hosking

Type of Cuisine - South African Part of Kilzers Kitchen Cookery School - this restaurant operates on Wednesday evenings only for the public. The format is basically as follows : Our guests 19:00 in the evening - bringing along their own wife and their own
We come here whenever we can for the Cook and Look. If you are going to be in Knysna for a Wednesday evening I would not only highly recommend this but say that it is essential. It is consistently the best food and entertainment you are going to experience on the Garden Route if not in the whole of SA . Despite problems with suppliers due to riots and strikes in Plettenberg and despite electricity problems Albin and Jenny pulled off a masterpiece yet again last night Fab-U-lous review thank you very much noel herrity.we look forward to many more meals being served your way and want to mention that this couple do an annual trip or two all the way from St Francis Bay to Knysna to have dinner at our establishment -fab-U-lous effort thank you both for your annual pilgramage to Kilzers Kitchen !!

Restaurants and food.
Visited for Saturday lunch. Although the restaurant only had about 5 tables, several waiters and a âhostessâ, service was glacial. Our starter plates and empty glasses remained on the table for 20 minutes before being cleared. We then ordered some wine which after 10 mins still had not arrived after which point we left. We could see the âhostessâ had been made aware of this but seemingly could care less. As for the food, the risotto was completely overcoooked into a mush. Awful.

This has to be my favourite restaurant Iâve ever been to. From the moment we arrived the team were so attentive. The taster menu is excellent and even better with the paired wines. Everything blended so well together. Brilliant service, great tasting food and wine. Next time Iâm here Iâll be back. Fantastic

It was Heritage Day....and we walked here from Company Gardens. Even arrived before it's 6:30 PM opening and Jane was MOST cordial.Liked the atmosphere...sort of funky......our waiter was Simon and he was terrific! The complimentary starter was delicious. the Jordan House Wine "hit the spot". My bengal Fish Curry did NOT measure up to the curry at Seabreeze, but that's OK and hubby had the RUMP in blue cheese and garlic sauce. Superb. However, Jane, the portion of wok veggies that came w/the rump could certainly be MORE ample. Portion of wok veggies MUCH too small.Had a great conversation with the couple at the table next to us.Dinner with tip................R 668. By the time we left most tables were occupied!

Manor House Restaurant opened its doors in November 2015, serving contemporary country cooking in a beautiful setting - only a 25 minute drive from Hermanus (approx 1h45min from Cape Town). Voted as one of South Africa's top 75 restaurants by The Gourmet
We couldnât find what we wanted on Stanford so headed further out and spotted the signs for the manor. The host was excellent and welcomed us without a booking. Charming place, loved the art, view and very good service. Trout pate was excellent as was calamari starter. Husbands silver fish was very good. My pork had very poor crackling but was given a free dessert to make up for it. Desserts lovely. Would have given this 4.5 star but thatâs not possible. Lovely Sunday lunch in relaxed setting.it really was lovely meeting you both, grateful you spotted our signs :-) - next time a top notch crackling, promise from the chef! warmest regards,Elsabe

Exquisite view and ambience. Service was of an excellent standard. Although the 3 course special is exceptional value for R295, we didnât want dessert and therefore opted to share the carpaccio starter which was good. The mains were exceptional. I had the line fish and my husband had the loin of Springbok. We would definitely return. Highly recommended and good value.
