In need of an upgrade

First the staff are the jewel in the crown of this hotel. We were only there for Sunday lunch the food being outstanding. We also enjoyed a bar meal but disappointed it was closed afternoon and evenings for food for non residents. Lost revenue? The lounge area is in desperate need of refurbishing and a more modern look. A lovely hotel in a prime position but with 70s decor.

Faultless hotel stay

Our room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The lounge was a pleasure to be in and the dining room the same. The breakfast choice and standard of food both excellent. The chef is good and we had two very pleasing evening meals. We were a party of 8 and all our food was delivered promptly so no one was waiting before eating their food. The staff were exceptionally nice and couldn’t have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Lovely hotel, poor and chaotic food :(

Reviewed By StrollA

5 of us stayed for 4 nights mid May and the hotel was lovely with obviously a great location. However, the food service, especially on the Sunday night was really disappointing. Items weren't available and most things that we did order after being told were available weren't, this happened time after time, in the end it felt like a scene from Fawlty Towers !! I could go into more detail but this review would go on for ages, lets just finish with the lovely sounding 'Cod with a crab and herb crumble' actually being served without any crab as they had 'run out of crab' :( It's meant to be a high class menu at a high class price but the way the bill is structured it's nearly impossible to work out what you've actually been charged so difficult to ask for a reduction in an individual poor quality dish...........

Great hotel in an quiet, seaside location

Reviewed By 622shellah

Stayed at The Kingswood Hotel overnight as close to The Donkey Sanctuary that we visited. The hotel was situated on the seafront which was filled with similar Recency buildings. Our double room (217) was compact as described but sufficient for our stay with a wonderful sea view though the bathroom was a little cramped with nowhere to store toiletries. The facilities in the room were good and it was fresh and spotlessly clean, but the bed was too hard for our liking. Staff were polite, courteous and informative, breakfast and dinner were good, the cooked breakfast being a highlight.

What a find!!!!

What a find, superb welcome and service by Paul, the assistant manager. Dog friendly, and we sat outside but under cover. Lovely friendly staff, and fabulous menu, but... no contest, it was the fish and chips for us, and OMG they were delicious. We weren't rushed in any way, great service, and attentive staff. Have to say, when we next visit, we won't eat anywhere else. A great holiday lunch, very memorable, and would thoroughly recommend the place.
