I knew the Orchard Hotel from many years ago when it would be fair to say, it wasn't five star accommodation! Returning thirty years later, I had read that it offered fair price accommodation for what looked like good (albeit basic) pub style accommodation. The location of the Orchard is excellent, being very centrally based within Falkirk. There is parking available at the rear of the property, but there can be competition for spaces if you arrive back too late in the evening. There is an overspill carpark on the other side of the road, but you need to ask if you don't know where it is.The staff are young, perennially cheerful and very willing to help out. There is no reception area, and the Bar area doubles up as a check in area. This underlines the point that the Orchard is a Bar/Restaurant first, and the hotel is an additional extra. There is no lift, so carrying a heavy suitcase up two flights of stairs was the first challenge. Maybe I could have asked the staff, but I wasn't sure if that was in their brief or not!My room was small and overlooked the car park area at the back. The outlook wasn't great, and the sound of bottles and bins being sorted in the morning was par for the course. I was glad to be a single traveller, as I think that the room would be extremely tight for two people to share. The bed was comfortable enough, but the pillows were very thin and it looked as through the bed linen should have been retired off a long time ago. Standards of cleanliness were not great - the carpet had stains, as did the chair. The shower unit base had mould in the cracks, and there were large cracks in two places on the bathroom floor which groaned every time that you stood on them.If you want to feel the earth move at night time, there are tremors to be felt when fellow guests walk along the corridor, or when there is some great activity happening downstairs. Let's just stay there there were a few not so good vibrations.I stayed when it was the Quiz Night at the Bar downstairs, and the noise of course lasted until the last drinks were done. The sound of patrons shouting, swearing and trying to woo a partner from the car park below added to the entertainment. I had given up on sleep by this time and was answering the quiz questions in bed, as I could hear them all as clear as a bell. I should have entered. I still don't know why the MC needed a microphone at all.Breakfast was a great Scottish feast - heart attack on a plate stuff, but I gleefully wolfed it down and washed it all down with Irn Bru. Lovely.WiFi access was intermittent, but the staff tried very hard to fix it. They kept telling me that it was my phone, but as it was working in every other wifi area in town, I very much doubted it. All was restored on my last day, but not after I had missed out on a whole day of free access. In a nutshell, the Orchard Hotel offers basic pub accommodation and if you are on a tight budget it offers good value for money. Don't come expecting anything other than rustic Falkirk charm, and you will be happy.

We'd failed to get a table on the Saturday night as it was packed, so booked ahead for Weds. Given a corner table in the bar area. Friendly staff. Ordered 2 Specials - duck and mushroom stroganoff. Both were lovely and good portions. No AF beer apart from Becks Bleurgh so gave that a miss but OH enjoyed his real ale. Booked for 2 nights later and asked for the same seat. That wasn't possible as a regular eats at that table every Fri, so we were given another close by. This time we ordered mushroom burrito and pork & herb sausage. Nice enough but burrito had far too much 'ratatouille'. Pleasant enough all around. It did feel cliquey (lots of bar gossip) but we were only there for the food so left once we'd finished.

Staying in the Richmond Park Hotel at the top of the hill; it proved to be well worth the walk down to the Corbie Inn, the walk back up with three courses and two pints in my belly was not such a formality however.I went with Sweet chili prawns for starters which were red hot but nice. The standard of the food seemed to further improve with each course. The Cajun chicken burger next up was great, comprised of proper meaty chicken breasts and finally the Sticky Toffee Pudding was divine. It's a real ale place so there's a decent range of beers on offer although on the night i visited there didn't seem to be any of the pubs own brewed beers on tap (Kinneil Brew Hoose) which was a shame.

I went here with my mother on a quiet Monday lunchtime, using a great value Itison voucher which included 2 courses and a glass of wine (or soft drink). Booking was very simple with very quick responses by email. The choices on the set menu were very good, I could have had anything, the portions were very generous and the food tasty. Service was slick and friendly, the drinks seem reasonably priced and the decor in the restaurant is very tasteful, including a really nice fire. I will be back!

Went here as it was literally round the corner from my daughter who we were visiting. Menu looked fine and prices were reasonable. Food ordered was - Texan burger, Mexican burger, steak pie and Kids cheeseburger. First we were asked if we would like the kids meal as soon as but we wanted to wait so we all ate together but thought this was a nice touch - some kids cant/ don't sit as well for a stretch of time so this was a nice offer. Burgers were AMAZING!! And cheap for what we got. Lovely home cut chips cooked to perfection. But the meat on the burger........wow. even my daughter agreed and she was impressed with the quality for the price (shes a manager in hospitality so has a clue lol). Steak pie was great with plenty decent meat too. The kids cheeseburger and fries came with garlic bread (other choices were available but he wanted that). Considering the kids meal was £6 with icecream too the value was great. Nice big burger and decent portion of chips too. I had chocolate fudge cake and icecream - mmmmmmm!!Daughter had white chocolate cheesecake and when it came out it was a huge portion. And so delicious we all helped finish it.Staff were very polite, helpful and attentive. A great wee place which was clean and with great value for fantastic food will definitely return.
