Cumbernauld (/ˌkʌmbərˈnɔːld/; Scots: Cummernaud /ˌkʌmərˈnɔːd/; Scottish Gaelic: Comar nan Allt) is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is the ninth most-populous locality in Scotland, despite only being designated as the site for a New Town on 9 December 1955. The area allocated was 4,150 acres (1,680 ha) lying between and incorporating the existing villages of Condorrat and Cumbernauld. The first new housing became available in 1958. An additional 3,638 acres (1,472 ha) was added to the designated town area on 19 March 1973 to accommodate a revised target population of 70,000. As of the UK census in 2011, the population of Cumbernauld was approximately 52,000.

I stumbled across this restaurant in Glasgow and I’m so pleased I did! Firstly the beer was excellent - and after a long day that was welcome. I decided to have a starter which was the blue cheese naans. I can’t recommend these highly enough - truly excellent. I followed this with the mango chicken dish, and again this was superb.The surroundings are great, the restaurant is big and spacious, well lit and very clean and well appointed. It reminds me, in the best way possible, of an American restaurant - as in it’s been done properly! Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the staff are friendly, helpful and polite.. so great surroundings, food and staff.. I sound like I’m getting paid for this review but I’m really not - it was just such a nice change to go to a modern, interrsting, restaurant..Firstly the beerHi GB1970WOW! What a fantastic review! Always great prices and almost always good hot food. You wait for fresh cooking and you get your reward.Easy to order online for delivery thru JustEat and Scoffable. If their chip-and-pin machine is not working (often happens), you can get cash from a free standing machine in the pub ('Smiddy') next door at no charge.

Called up tonight for a delivery. The menu clearly says takes orders until 12:30. Called at 12:05, asked what I would like. Told them a pizza then got told no they weren’t going to do my order. I asked why, apparently my order wasn’t big enough. Such a disgrace as I was still paying full delivery. There is no guidelines on the menu of how much you have order to get a delivery. Shocking customer service, will not be getting business from me or my family again.

Traveling through Scotland a week ago, we (my wife, daughter and her fiance, and me) wanted to dine in Airdrie as that's the town our family (McCreadie) lived in prior to moving to the U.S. 100 years ago. We were recommended to try the Himalayan Dine In. What a great recommendation! The service was great as was the food. If I lived in Airdrie, I'd be a regular. I wish I recalled the host's name as he was fabulous and really made us feel at home. He patiently walked us through Nepalese and North Indian options. We all had something different and all were very happy with our choices.It was an absolute delight having you all dine with us, thank you very much for such a kind comment.Management Team,Himalayan Dine In

Have not been for a while so decided to try again. The service and food were fine for the money although the Indian food arrived on the cool side. The battered fish was very good but the chips were not great. Starters were good.When we went to pay they took away our £40 and we waited, and waited for our £7 change. Eventually we had to go to the bar and they had put it in their tip jar. We suspect a bit of a con going on here by the staff member at the bar who said she did not know what she was thinking.Don't like this one bit.Dear ssenitThank you for your review. Firstly let me say from the outset that we as a business do not operate a "con" as you put it in relation to "tips"It would appear from discussing this with the staff member involved you left more money than the amount of the bill. I apologise that the staff member assumed that this was a gratuity and I have advised them, that they must be more diligent when dealing with bills in future. We live in Cheshire but visit friends in Lenzie several times a year. We always try to eat at Rasoi given past experiences there BUT it's busy. We were originally four on Saturday (3rd August) but another friend decided to join us at the last moment. The restaurant said "yes" to this additional booking so this meant 5 on a table really meant for four. When we arrived, we thought about moaning but, as we then saw the number of diners who subsequently came through the door that evening, we realised we were actually lucky to get in !An interesting and different menu in a very competitive established "curry" area. Good service and reasonably priced. Understandably, very popular with locals We will return (if we can get in) !

Perfect Chicken bhuna, lamb rogan josh, South Indian garlic chicken, chicken pakora and veg pakora. Particularly the chicken pakora, miles better than any takeaway in or around Glasgow. The main difference is they seem to use proper ingredients which don’t turn all of the food bright red and pink, bordering on fluorescent. Hopefully it stays this way as we haven’t been to any other takeaway since we tried invitation. Dear Andrew,Thank you for such a praising review! I unfortunately feel the need to put on an honest disappointing review. We were passing through Cumbernauld on the way back from Fife. Googling Indian takeaways in Cumbernauld this place came up with lots of good reviews. The restaurant looked nice, the staff were friendly. We ordered 2 kids meals, chicken tikka, and a chicken korma (which doesn’t even come with rice so not actually a meal), a regular chicken Patia and chicken tikka garam masala ,1 fried rice and a garlic nan. No starter not even poppadoms or spiced onions, only 1 rice remember and it was £35 for a small takeaway !!Was shocked at the price for all we ordered. I’d usually pay about £20 for that which would include starters. Anyway, having read lots of good reviews and the fact it was very expensive and (best curry 2 years ago award too) I was optimistic on the way home and starving. Sorry to say it was dire. My wife’s Patia was watery and tasted mostly of tomato ketchup and vinegar. Patia isn’t usually my kind of thing anyway but this was awful. The garam masala was non descript, just very bland. My son didn’t like his chicken tikka. I have been eating Indian food since I was 5 years old and now in my 40s so I know a good curry. Anyway best of luck to them, lots of others seem to like that sort of thing.
