Borgo Egnazia

Borgo is the Italian word for village. Borgo Egnazia, a stroll from the Adriatic Sea on the fertile plains of Puglia, is a village of dreams hewn in the beautiful white Tufo stone of the region. If it had existed in ancient times it would have been the eighth wonder of the world! But although it looks as if time, sun, footsteps and sea breezes have weathered its facades, Borgo Egnazia is a 21st century creation that sparks the imagination with its characterful buttresses and the higgledy-piggledy layout of the casette around the central Piazza. You arrive at La Corte (the court), which sits like a manor house or Moorish Castle to the side of the village. It's a castle of troubadours and sanctuary though, not of battlements. Here are rooms where you can take your sojourn with us, descending the sweeping stairway to enjoy the bars, restaurants, terraces, spa and pools as well as the many secreted, gently lit bowers in a labyrinth of corridors that make it seem as if you had entered the Temple of Aphrodite! Alternatively you can choose to stay in one of the Borgo's casette, a deux or as a family of four, which nestle around two piazzas down bougainvillea- scented alleyways that you would swear had been there since the days of carts and horses. Larger families might prefer to take one of our 29 villas that fringe the village with their own plunge pools and shaded gardens, lush with oleander and rosemary. Borgo Egnazia is hard to describe. It's a place like nowhere else, with so much thought having gone into every detail. You have to come and experience it for yourself. What we have done is given glimpses about the many characteristics of the place. We hope you enjoy these. If they conjure in your mind the sense of a place rich in earthy provenance, splendid in its imagining and deeply restorative in its comforts and perfection, then our words will be doing some justice to the reality of Borgo Egnazia. Vair Spa Vair is emphasizing the role played by internal beauty, which illuminates each one of us and never deteriorates. We are introducing the results of a year's worth of research into an essential theme: The fulfillment of the psyche, that can be searched in a series of extraordinary treatments born precisely from this vision. Before choosing the best tailor-made spa itinerary, our guests often say they would like to feel happier after their treatments. This is why we suggest that you do not miss the life-changing treatments, which are carried out in the friendly and inviting atmosphere at Vair, the innovative and modern Mind & Body Spa surrounded by Puglia's natural beauty. We train every day to have the clearest attitude in welcoming you. The Training of the Spa Team has been extra-ordinary. Inspired and excellent teachers, all masters in their arts, left us tools and knowledge to enhance our methods for delivering committed Spa experiences in this changing world.

A big disappointment

I had heard / read nothing but amazing things about Borgo. Don't get me wrong, the overall property is incredible. But I would recommend a visit for dinner over staying there. The staff was 10/10 but the hotel room was nowhere near as nice as other places we have stayed throughout Italy. Our AC barely worked, wifi did not work, and the shower pressure was extremely weak. We only had a one night stay so by the time we realized all of these issues it was late into the night and we did not have the energy to go downstairs to reception and address them. In addition, we ate dinner at La Frasca which would have been good if we had not been seating to a screaming toddler that cried / yelled throughout the entire 2 hour meal. Pros: the spa and pools are beautiful. The breakfast food was delicious. Overall, this is not what I expected for a hotel of this caliber and such an expensive hotel room. I wish we would have booked somewhere else.

Newly decorated, very spacious room with all equipments and most importantly a very warm welcome from all the team. Alessandro and his team have largely contributed to making our stay a magical moment. Alessandro and his team are fully dedicated to their clients. They are really generous and Alessandro is an amazing Hotel Director and have provided us with best recommandations in terms of places to visit or "original" restaurants. Each one was unique and allowed us to spend unforgettable evenings. Thank you to everyone and specifically to Alessandro!

Lovely stay

We stayed here as our home base for our travels around Puglia. The rooms are lovely, the bed is very comfortable and the housekeeping staff exceptional. Fortunato the concierge was the best! He was able to take care of any reservations we needed and was always so happy and helpful. We ate dinner at the hotel twice and it very good. If I had to take a mark away it would be for the breakfast buffet. It was rather simple and limited. Otherwise everything here was wonderful! The hotel is not walking distance to anything, so make sure you have some type of transportation if you plan on staying here.

Wedding Stay

We stayed here as part of a wedding group and had a very positive experience! First off the setting is fabulous, the grounds and pool area are so beautiful. All the rooms are like mini villas, absolutely spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was diverse and rich in local italian foods, staff were attentive, friendly and very helpful! We didn't have a meal here however we were served some delicious bar snacks, there was some gorgeous deep fried courgette flowers, top notch. Although only here a few days I could see this as a perfect luxurious getaway destination. ostuni, bari, monopolis etc are all within driving distance. There's also some fabulous beach areas closeby. Grazie mille!

Fantastic stay

Reviewed By notforprimetime

We stayed three nights at this property during our bike trip with VBT. I can't say enough about how wonderful the stay was. We were treated to delicious meals at breakfast (great buffet), a wonderful multi-course lunch and dinners. The pool had a walk-in feature and was very large. There was a nice bar and tables for drinks and snacks, and the staff was attentive with bringing drinks to the comfortable lounge chairs. There is even a beach club available which was very nice. Overall, the Masseria's staff was exceptional. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable. We had a sitting area in front with lovely jasmine framing the doorway, and we also had a sitting area in the back with lounge chairs to sit in the sun. I just want to say thank you so much to everyone there! We would love to stay there again someday.

Spectacular homely stay with brilliant staff

Reviewed By JoannaC1019

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! Due to the uncertainty with travel heading into September, we booked a room at the hotel very last minute (as in 36 hours before) - it was all done directly via email (all communication was super speedy and informative). The Masseria itself is wonderful: we were in a 'standard' double room but don't let that fool you, it really did feel luxurious. The rooms are cleaned every day and you're given fresh towels too. The pool is small but given there are only 14 rooms it was never full. The grounds are really beautiful as well, definitely worth a wander with a camera. It's a very quiet and peaceful place, probably less suited to young families and more to couples - quite a few of the guests were here for access to the golf course. The hotel is half-board and the food is amazing: we assumed we would eat out for dinner more but quickly realized we didn't want to as the traditional foods the kitchen prepare are very good and there is heaps of it - you will not go hungry. I was also really impressed at how the staff have adapted their practices to be COVID-safe. As much as possible (weather permitted) is outside, tables as spaced well at meals and the staff always wear masks and stay a good distance. All the menus are available online and are updated every day. None of this made the experience feel any less five-star. All of the staff were incredibly friendly: we speak only guide book Italian phrases, and had some fun learning more with the staff over the week we were here! 3 or 4 members of staff speak very good English if you need wine recommendations or logistical help. There is also a really friendly cat that seems to live here and likes to join the guests for dinner :) It's also a great location for exploring Puglia, we did the 1 hour trip down to Lecce and also it's 30 mins to Ostuni and Alberobello. We will definitely be hoping to return to Masseria Cimino next year, fingers crossed for travel!
