If I could give a zero I would. We’ve been coming to Cozumel/Explorean for over 6 years. Over the past six years we’ve watched the resort decline. As members this is very disappointing. This year we arrived to find the beach area is closed. Making the pools and the rest of the common areas congested. As members the we offered a Jeep as an inconvenience. We accepted and when we went to get our Jeep. We we’re given a bright yellow buggy that was on it’s last leg and smelled of booze. A really nice way to treat your member. Rooms are starting to be run down and smell of mold. Good quality and variety has gone down considerably. Good staff is being runoff because the resort penalizes them for taking care of the guests. Pizza oven hasn’t worked in 2 or 3 years. Excisions are getting worse each year. This is the first time I wish I haven’t joined the membership. Very very disappointed and this is only day two for us. I think we’re are coming with the terms that we will have to choose a different place to stay on the island. For all of you thinking about coming here learn from a member and rethink your choice.

Just average

Reviewed By ammantio

The good: food is great, the restaurant serves really wonderful breakfast and dinner and creative cocktails at a very reasonable price. The location works, walking distance to shops and the beach, a dive shop and the garden area are lovely. The staff is also very helpful and accommodating. The not so good: The noise. The road noise is quite loud as there is a speed bump directly in front of the hotel that encourages drivers to hit the gas right after they go over it. The beach club across the street...awful...playing very loud, bass thumping music well past the ordinance times and levels. This was the worst part of the stay...impossible to relax on the veranda or sleep. The owners are working on buying the beach club and get constant complaints, in the mean time they do apologize and offer small discounts as a concessions to try to help, really the best they can do and I applaud them for that.

Amazing

Amazing Hotel it’s very new it’s not been open for too long. It’s in a great location far enough away from the touristy areas so you can have some peace and quiet but close enough to restaurants and shops so you can still enjoy your evenings out. If you’re going to stay the best room I feel it’s room 306 I had amazing views Florida ceiling windows it was spotless every day. I cannot say enough things about the staff everybody always had a smile on their face they always greeted you a lot of them greeted me by name. Everyone from the manager before I got there she was very helpful to the maintenance staff that needed to come in for a short amount of time to fix something to the staff at the snack bar the housekeeping and even Danny at the front desk who was always so helpful in answering my questions. I cannot wait to go back this is definitely my hotel choice for the foreseeable future in Cozumel!

Iberostar Cozumel

Wonderful Getaway

Reviewed By RobCarCDN

We spent wonderful 10 days at the Iberostar Cozumel resort. We were welcomed promptly upon our arrival. The property is beautiful. Very well maintained. Our room was well appointed with a stocked mini fridge (pop/beer), A/C, walk-in rain shower. Coffeemaker in the room would have been nice, but with them trying to be environmentally friendly, I could understand why there isn't one. Maybe having a coffee station available at the "Steakhouse" location (as it is more centrally available than the lobby buffet restaurant) could be an option. I did appreciate the adjustable magnifying mirror (something I wish other hotel chains had). Hubby loved the hammock on the balcony. The food at the buffet restaurant was very good and there was something for everyone. As for the specialty restaurants, the Steakhouse was hit or miss. We had 3 meals there. I had the mediallian each time. The 2nd time, which may be due to a late booking, was definitely not a loin cut. It actually looked like a lesser cut of meat trimmed to look like a centre cut. That said, it was still tasty. The Mexican was the most disappointing. Meat was tough, taquito was inedible. The was also no coffeemaker in the restaurant which seemed odd. The Asian was the best. Food was fresh and it was easy to get a table, and no reservations were needed. The beach front offered an option for sunbathing if you couldn't get a poolside chair. Beach snackbar was great and provided good options to the buffet for lunch by the pool. The pool could use a good scrub, as it was getting a film around the surface and the bottom was getting slippery. The entertainment team, especially Sophia, Alejandra and Angelo, were excellent. They were all friendly and enthusiastic, and they definitely added to our holiday. I am going to miss my daily aquafit! The nightly shows and lobby entertainment were well done and a nice way to end the day. Most of the staff were friendly and welcoming. A shout out to Margarita, who made delicious omelettes daily, and Carlos, our morning server at the buffet. I did wish there was more info on the "no paper" in the toilets notices (e.g., what is accomplished by this initiative). One more observation and it seemed that the Steakhouse/buffet staff are overwhelmed at times and as a result were not as attentive or friendly as the servers in the other areas. Overall, a wonderful time spent at Iberostar Cozumel and will be looking forward to a return trip in the future.

Superb place to stay in Cozumel

Reviewed By honey_badger1888

This is an outstanding place to stay. We stayed in the 2 double beds room (the elefantes suite) and it was truly enormous, the images on here do not do it justice. My son and his girlfriend had a double room, and it too, was very big, space wise. The rooms comes with all the mod cons including air con, tv, wifi, 24 hr hot shower, coffee making equipment that uses pods, (but not tea making, strangely enough), fridge etc. There is a free water machine at the end of the hall which provides hot and cold water for anyone that wants it. This allowed me to get hot water for my tea. The excellent restaurant staff will also provide you with tea bags, extra coffee pods or and milk for you. They do provide free daily bottled water in the rooms. There is a table and chairs in the room to sit down for food and a leather seat for relaxing. All of which fit in easily in the cavernous room. The rooms are sparkingly clean and are cleaned and restocked daily with towels, soaps, lotions etc. Bed linen is also changed daily. The two large double beds (queens, i think, but maybe kings) are very comfy Most importantly, the villa is quiet and there is no noise or loud music to disturb you, which is a huge plus in Cozumel. The location is a bit away from the noisy strip, maybe 10mins walk or a 2min taxi, but it's worth it for the peace and quiet of a good nights sleep. The room had a great view from the balcony onto the lovely pool area, which has loungers and seating surrounding it in a gorgeous garden. The pool area also has a bit for eating food at the back of it, between the pool and restaurant. The restaurant only offers a few dishes and they all cost $10, but they will come and go with you on what you want, no problem. The villa itself is tastefully done and is very impressive in it's decor and furnishings. The service was excellent and prompt in evey way possible. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They took us to Punta Sur Beach (best beach in Cozumel by a mile) for a fraction of what we were quoted outside on the strip and from phoning a good few operators. They also gave us a free run to the ferry terminal when we were leaving. Excellent place to stay, i highly recommend it.

Such a great boutique hotel

Reviewed By L6745URstefanb

We really loved the hotel a lot. It is a true oasis of quietness, lovely details, cozy rooms and a perfect courtyard with lots of palmtrees and plants. And of course the lovely cat Maria (so friendly). Everything was very clean, breakfast good and the room nicely decorated with many details and quiet. It is a little distance from the center, but you can walk that in about 20-25 minutes or take a taxi from a stand that is 2 minutes away (as is a big supermarket). So, everything great and would definitely recommend and come back!
