Family dive Vacation in Roatan

Reviewed By Suplizio

We stumbled upon Naboo Dive Resort while walking around the West Bay area. We were greeted by Serena at the dive shop and quickly felt at home. The facility and equipment are brand new however the dive masters and instructors have years of experience not only diving all over the world, but also extensive knowledge of the Roatan dive sites. The barrier reef was spectacular and teeming with life. While there, we completed our Advanced Open Water certification. We were so pleased with our diving experience with Naboo. We will definitely return there and dive with them the next time. Thank you so much Serena, Elise, and Andrea! Hope to see you again soon

Convenient Hotel to West End Dive Shops and Beach

Reviewed By X8826NAadamr

We stayed here on the recommendations from our local dive shop. It is a great West End location to the dive shops and the beach is across the street but the hotel only offers basic no frill accommodations. The kitchenette included a tiny old propane stove, sink and small fridge. The room and bath area is very dated but we all agreed the beds were comfortable. I'd give the location 5 stars, hotel 2 stars, and staff 4 stars so the average is 3.6 or 4 stars. The restaurant next door is amazing and guests get a discount too. I have hearing aids so I slept well but my wife and the other couple complained about loud dogs barking and a noisy rooster. They used ear plugs and slept better. The price per room is the same as other similar west end hotels (very reasonable) so to get a nicer hotel room expect to pay 50% to 100% more.

We came for dinner at the recommendation of a friend and we cannot say enough good things about this lovely oasis. Cheryl, the proprietor, is the hostess with the mostest and clearly cares immensely about the property and her guests. She is an amazing cook and the kindest person- we immediately felt at home. We can’t wait to return to Roatan and stay at Guava Grove!

Waiting for my room at the restaurant as I write this. I've been here 3 hours at their restaurant, the Argentinian grill, and servers have not come to me see me once. I had to get up to order a drink & get a menu... and wave down the server to order & to get napkins. Burritos are greasy and flavourless, except for fried onion taste, and fries taste like old grease. Yeah... 10 days of this. Will spend my money in other restaurants in West Bay

Great Location, Great Views, Great Potential

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this home. Very unique house with lots of space. Private pool was nice and enjoyed it tremendously. Walk to Parrot Tree's community pool is about 4 minutes and another 2-3 minutes to the lagoon. Had a few issues and some started from the beginning. Upon confirming our reservation a deposit was requested and expected. The manager Stephanie requested we use Moneygram to send. I did. It was easy to do from my home and fees were low. For the 2nd and final payment she asked me to send via bank transfer as Moneygram wasn't good for her, due to the exchange rate. I made appointment with bank and sent money. Of course only about 98% gets there due to fees for the transfer so plan on that being extra cost of renting home. We arrived and were greeted by Stephanie. She showed us around the house. Main space is not air conditioned, but has many large doors with screens only wish the main door had one as well. House is really only 5 Bedrooms and 5.5 Baths though they show it as 6BR and 6.5 Baths on Airbnb. There is a pull out couch in a common area upstairs and a bed on a screened in porch (no AC) when we were there. The 6BR and 6 bath is actually in the maids quarters under the kitchen. We found this out when we inquired for our guess sleeping on the screened in porch. When we tried streaming the Ohio State game we found that the router was not working, but the internet was. They got a new routers for us the next day and all was good. Don't expect the same speed internet you have at home. Here as well as the other couple places we have stayed run about 1-2mbps down and less than 1 up. Fine for email and some basic surfing, but not really good for streaming or gaming. Bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and they even provided some body wash and soap. Towels were good quality and pool/ beach towels were large and plentiful. Our bed was very comfortable and didn't hear any complaints from anyone about sleeping due to mattress. Friends in room with AC down did wake up early due to being warm and our son opted to sleep on pull out when their AC quit. One bedroom AC unit was not working upon our arrival and was told it would be fixed on Monday. They did try very hard to get it working even staying until 9-10PM one night, but to no avail. We did have another AC unit making very high pitched noises early in the week. We reported it to them and they said it was working fine. This same unit failed on day 5. They claim we reprogrammed the remote and caused damage to unit. When we initially reported it she asked if we had set lower than 25C. if going lower than 25 was reprogramming we all did. We ran ours each night on 20C and it did just fine. Kitchen was well equipped and we made a few meals there. Drawer freezer on refrigerator would not close tightly and was unusable. There was water leaking/ melting/ coming from somewhere by the main refrigerator we had to clean up all week or walk through it (see photo). There was a chest freezer that worked pretty well and we kept our ice in there. The refrigerator didn't seem to hold temperature during the day, but they said we were doing something wrong like into it. In the morning it would be about 38F, but by bed time it was running around 53F. We chose to keep eggs and meat in the small compact refrigerator to be safe. Housekeeping person did come in and do dishes and straighten up beds during the week. This was nice surprise, but them doing last weeks laundry (see photo) while we paid for the electricity was not appreciated. Lounge chairs, hammock and pool side sun bed were great. Pool was a little chilly when first getting in, but they just had a bunch of rain and this probably cooled it off some. Overall the house was nice and has great potential with a little re-investing some of the rental income. I and probably others wish there were a safe in the rooms for computer/ money, but they don't think it is needed. Parrot Tree is a gated community and we always felt safe. Any questions let me know. Hope you found this review helpful.
