Hospitable and great location

Hospitable host, made welcome. Off road parking for motorcycles. There is a “shed”, but already in use. Twin bedded room was well decorated, clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good. Details in the room stated packed lunches and evening meals available by prior arrangement, but we didn’t try this. Great location for touring. Would stay here again.

What a little gem food was amazing great price Unfortunately there is a complaint the lad that was serving was extremely rude . We phoned to check if we needed to book and her had no manners and very Curt when we got to the pub and ordered drink he still felt uninterested . We then got the same lad to take our food order and 4 went for lamb burgers one a pizza and 1 pie . We noticed on the lamb burgers there was an option to add onion rings for a pound . The meal was amazing good quality and ample . We got the bill and noticed we had been charged £10 for onion rings instead of £4 when we approached the lad he was extremely rude and dismissed it as our error when I showed him the menu price he tried to blame us . At this time I decided to drop the issue and just except it not wanting to ruin our day. The member of staff needs some training on how to be a better barman and face of a great business. We came on Tuesday 24 November 2021 at lunch time

Overpriced and undercleaned

Staff were pleasant enough, the rooms, however were not. Cobwebs dangling from the ceiling, bathroom was disgustingly dirty and I dread to think what the showerhead had been used for. A weird dripping noise and some random bangs from the attic kept most of our party awake for most of the night. Brakfast was lovely, and served by polite staff, but after paying £90 each for 4 rooms it came as rather a surprise that it wasn’t included in the price. I guess it was better than sleeping in the car but we won’t be back.

Wow what a beautiful, relaxing stay ! Les and Neal made us so welcome when we stayed for 3 nights with our pooch . The apartment has everything you need and super cosy and clean .. one eve we cooked and had a night in front of the telly - just like home from home !it’s completely central to anywhere in the town and no more than 5 mins walk to anywhere ! The Lost Arc does the most scrummy breakfasts and we all had a great evening on the Friday there with Les and Neal listening to local music live. Rhayader has a great community feel . The local pubs are great and people are so friendly . The dog walks are spectacular and every day we went out, beautiful countryside and walks . We didn’t want to leave ! We will be back to Wonderful Wales and Cadwgan House Laura, Adam & Trigger x

Left humiliated

After a spinal cord injury, my life turned upside down. Going out is a big thing and going away is HUGE! I turned up to the bear, where I was greated by a friendly lady, she told me where to park, asked my name and went and got the key. I got out the car with my stick and she asked was I travelling alone. I advised her I was awaiting my husband who was just at the petrol station. This is where things changed. She took my husband to the room whilst I waited at the car. He came back and said we were being refused access to the room we booked and paid for! After booking the room we messaged the owner asking if they have an accessible room if possible. They replied they didn't have any - which was expected as we know the town and the buildings are quite old. **At this point, she could have cancelled the room we paid for , we would have looked elsewhere. Whenever we book a room anywhere, we always ask the same question and hotel explain if there is a particular issue well in advance. She told my began telling my husband, why the room was unsuitable for us, too small, I was too big to use the toilet, then the floor was uneven, but she didn't want to listen to my husbands assurances. Then shared a story about how she had previously let the room to a *large lady* and the bath broke away from the tiles and she wasn't prepared to risk this happening again due to my size. We had two friends who now was hearing this in the carpark. I have never been so mortified, I literally wanted to go home and cry . After we had travelled over 3 hours and faced being left without accommodation. She told us she tried Ty Morgan's but couldn't get through. She then took the key from us and asked us to move the vehicles. She gave us the names of other establishments in the town and told us to try and find somewhere else , I was so embarrassed I offered to go home alone, and she said that would be fine. She also suggested I try and find friends to swap with saying she would be happy to let someone else have our room ( someone smaller , less disabled, less gay ?). I am fortunate enough to be able to afford to rebook somewhere else, not everyone could! She told my husband that she would issue a refund but we would have to speak to booking.com to sort this. Once we left , later that evening we then received a threatening text saying if we didn't cancel the booking through booking.com within an hour she would withhold the refund. To the owner - please know that your actions have affected me deeply. Whatever your prejudice - remember we are all human, kindness is free and one day it could be you or one of your family members misfortune to become disabled!!

Just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Penrally House. The host, Steve, literally can't do enough for you. Our bedroom was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean with stunning views over the garden and valley below. Lying in bed watching the Red Kites circle above the valley was spectacular. A superb breakfast was served each morning cooked to perfection using fresh ingredients & locally sourced produce. Excellent value for money and would highly recommend a visit if you're lucky enough to visit Elan Valley anytime soon
