Tough eating in chaotic Siena, this unusually cool placed cafe, is excellent, out of center craziness but 5minutes walk to the center, the lasagna isnât over the top tasty while the service is nothing I have seen in italy.i stopped for a drink but had to eat. Super super thumbs up blandishments cafe

This restaurant was exactly what we were looking for after several stuffier dinners weâve had this week! The quality was evident from the steady steam of people flocking here! The staff was very friendly and did not get frustrated with our very limited Italian. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. Their spritz was tasty and they even had a good beer selection. We hope to be back before we have to head out of town!

We visited Casolo d'Elsa at the end of June and pretty much had the place to ourselves. That was great but also made the task of picking the right place by the number of busy tables more difficult. Outside Il Barroccio on a pretty square, however, we saw plenty of locals (both native and ex-pats) and decided to try it out.Compared to other places in Tuscany, the prices were fairly low. We opted for pizza to share with the kids and a side salad. The friendly waiter said it'd take "dieche minute" and after 10 minutes, two piping hot pizzas promptly arrived. One was ham and mushrooms, the other pepperoni and both were delicious. The side salad was a rather sad looking affair however, with tinned corn, iceberg lettuce and the kind of light orange tasteless tomatoes you get in Sweden in winter, not Italy in summer. (It's like they actively had to go find those tomatoes and most on sale here are red and delicious.)Together with drinks (one big beer and three soft drinks) the bill came to â¬27 which I think was more than fair.

This is a great place for basic barbecue. We are staying at a nearby Agriturismo and decided not to drive to nearby Siena for dinner. This is a very nice basic Tuscany setting up on a hill. The 4 of us shared the antipasto, a nice veritable salad, fried potatoes and a T-Bone steak. The chef bought the steak out for us to see before he put it on the barbecue. The steak was served and each of us cut a piece off. By serving everything on platters was great and we all got the portions that we wanted.

We were also staying at La Suvera in Pievescola. We went to reception to ask the local places at which we could have lunch. The receptionist recommended this restaurant and said that this was a local restaurant at which she would eat. We went for lunch. Unfortunately by the time we arrived we were told that they were no longer serving any grilled food. They had a huge wood furnace in the kitchen where we could see they were grilling all types of meat.We had lunch. The food was good-what we assume is home cooking. We decided to come back for dinner to try the grilled meat. We had chicken and guinea fowl. Both were excellently grilled. The house wine was ridiculously cheap but also good. It is really a simple everyday restaurant where the locals come to have lunch and dinner. There is no decor or ambience- people come for the food and the extraordinary value.
