Our excursion to Cafayate was amazing but even better when we decided to skip the regular, tour-guide suggested restaurant and we went to this place. Nice place, great atmosphere and above all the empanadas were amazing. They prepared them at the moment; so you eat them warm. They have a great selection. We loved the arabe, calabresa. We tried them all! Go for the empanadas they are their best product!

We had a great experience at Ashpamanta and a welcome (veggie) change to the meat-focused cuisine in Argentina. The menu was inventive, with some good recommendations by the staff. The ambiance and decor was very tasteful and it was lovely to watch the food being prepared in the open kitchen - we felt like we were enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal.

Fabulous atmosphere, the food was good classic parrilla fare , including excellent empanadas and humitas and tamales. The music performed by the customers made this place outstanding, it felt very authentic and incredibly charming. There is no official"show" so I suppose you could be unlucky and miss music if no one was performing. There was so much music when we were there I expect it is unusual not to have any.

Friendly staff; good menu; good food; good wine; decent value for money. Hard to find anything to change. We went twice because the second day was Valentines Day and everything was special menu. Both experiences were very good. Mostly locals, but wait staff were willing to work with our broken spanish. We were always treated as a valued customer in the restaurant.

Ma Cuisine Resto

Ma Cuisine Resto proposes dishes for every taste with the uncomparable touch of french cuisine. Salta, Argentina.

If you've had enough parillada, head for this French themed restaurant. It's about five blocks off the plaza, but better and more intimate than the touristy places on the plaza. We ended up going here two nights for dinner we liked it so much. Each night we had a fish dish, although there are plenty of meat dishes. Entrees include one of the many side dishes, such as mixed vegetables or potatoes. Sauces are excellent. Chef and owner Roberto is very warm and friendly, as is the only server Veronica. Only about eight tables so make a reservation (you can use Facebook Messenger) Very nice wine list as well. A nice dinner for two with a bottle of wine will run you in the $50 range. Very highly recommended.

Hacienda de Molinos

On your drive along the RN40 from Cafayate to Cachi there is so much nature and incredible sights to see. Then there is the Hacienda de Molinos! Such a contrast to the rugged, breathtaking lanscape and rough nature. Hacienda de Molinos is an oasis in the midst of this spectacular road. The restaurant (and hotel) is set in an old convent just opposite the main church in Molinos. Eat outdoors in the closed patio under a several hundred year old tree, and just enjoy the great food, ambiance, and reflect on how lucky you are to be able to take all this in!
Next time, we will definitely stay for 1-2 nights to also enjoy the hotel!

Walking out on the hotel suggestion for dinner, and with no idea where to go, we read a few reviews and saw this was close by and decided to give this restaurant located in the Designs Suites hotel a try. A small space and all white and the only people there (we were tourist early), we were unsure if we should walk out on this one as well but we are very glad we stayed! The meal was delicious in almost every way - from the crackers with blue cheese spread, eggplant mille feuille, fantastic tenderloin, corn pudding and couscous risotto sides, to the mouthwatering chocolate mousse. The only item that we didn't love was the chicken but it could not affect our rating as everything else was so good. The server was extremely nice and attentive and was very patient with our very bad spanish! We walked out of the first restaurant (lots of pictures and english translations on the menu) and ended up with one of the best meals of our trip to Argentina for a very reasonable price considering the quality of the food.

We had the Cochinillo Segovia, served with potatoes and vegetables. The service was excellent, and the food was amazing! The prices are reasonable for what you get. I certainly suggest that if you have the opportunity while in salta, you stop by and try it! Just a fair warning, there is a lot of food, so if you are going to order a whole one be sure you have a hungry group with you!!

Thanks to TripAdvisor ratings, we chose this lovely Italian restaurant on our first night in Salta. We were not disappointed. Despite having the place almost to ourselves (never a great sign usually), we had such a charming evening. Service was delicate and professional. Food was Italian with a local twist, all made fresh to order according to e.g. your chosen type of pasta + your chosen type of sauce and/or filling. Highly recommend the ravioli. Desserts were also excellent.
