Felt like a VIP in Monteverde!
Reviewed By Nicola PThe villa was very clean and had everything we needed. We were left with plenty of supplies of bread, milk, fresh fruit and eggs for breakfast plus lots of coffee and tea. The villa is situated a short walk (approx. 10 mins) from the supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Although, please note that it’s very hilly and could be a struggle without a car. Karen was an excellent host from start to finish, she gave us some great recommendations of restaurants and things to do, most of which we booked through her such as the cloud rainforest tour and zip lining tour which made it all hassle free. I’d recommend this stay to my friends and family!

Elan at Ballena Beach, a luxurious resort development nestled along a narrow stretch of southwestern Costa Rican coastline known as Costa Ballena. There aren’t many vacation homes where one of the best beaches in Costa Rica is at your doorstep, a national park is your next-door neighbor, and an incredible resort with private pools and modern day conveniences surround you. The resort features a series of elevated pools and Jacuzzi, outdoor BBQ and dining pavilion, spa treatments, 24 hour security, cleaning and concierge services, nature trails, free Wi-Fi throughout the property, and secure parking. All two and three bedroom units are tastefully furnished and decorated. All units are air/conditioned and include cable TV and high speed internet. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to feel at home. The main large terrace in your vacation home lets you interact with monkeys and amazing colorful birds native to the area.
Beautiful, well-equipped and well-located apartment
Reviewed By amrmtravelWe had five nights in a two bedroom apartment. The apartment is gorgeous and really well equipped. The pool area is beautiful with different pools - very shallow baby pool, deep pool with seating ledge and a jacuzzi. Direct access to the beach which is basically deserted but beautiful. You walk through a stretch of jungle to get to it, where we saw howler monkey and crabs and lizards. The one thing to note on the beach is that the currents are very strong. Camilla was really responsive and friendly, adding good service to the good qualities.

Reviewed By BertoriumWe saw the owner at the check in only and that was fine. We knew he was available if needed. Rooms are spacious and clean with coffee machine, AC and wifi. Very nice and well maintained gardens. Not so far from the center. Only 2000 colones by cab, one way from/to the center. Only point of criticism were the loud neighbours but that is not at all the responsibility of the owners.

Reviewed By MMnyc123This company has terrible customer service. There are several other companies that rent other units in the same condo, but will give you better service. The agent we were dealing with was unable to answer questions related to covid and cleanliness, lied several times about the level of occupancy at the resort, and was extremely combative when asked to clarify. I have never experienced this level of service anywhere in the world.

Reviewed By JanelDelageThis appears to have been a nice, remote resort at one time. However the years have not been kind to it, and it is now quite rundown. There is no longer a serviced swim up bar or any amenities on site. The restaurant across the road was a great stop but the only one nearby. The majority of other places are 30 minutes away.

Bait and switch
Reviewed By 766darrells#102. The ad does not clearly state that the reservation is for 1 bedroom of the condo and that you share the condo with strangers. That being said, when we got there the security had no confirmation of our reservation. The security said they were trying to contact the owner. Three hours went by and the shift changed. The new security gave us a phone # to call. We could not call hotels.com because it was a weekend. We called the owner. He apologized and told us he overbooked and asked to text. We asked for a refund. He instead offered a beautiful cabin. It was late so we said ok. This "beautiful " cabin was 3 hours away. No where near a beach. It was in the mountains. On a hobby farm. It was a hostel. There were no bed sheets. The paint was peeling off the walls. It was a mess. A search showed it went for $15/night. We left after the first night. Definitely not what we booked. Finally contacted hotels.com. They told us we were not entitled to a refund because the owner offered us alternate accommodations. It's now a dispute with the credit card company. The owner scammed us and hotels.com should remove him from their site. Very disappointed with hotels.com that we were not able to reach them on a weekend and would not help with a refund
