Great service: informed, professional, friendly and not rushed (in spite of the fact that we were the only diners). We ordered several courses to share, which were thoughtfully divided into half portions and served consecutively. A reasonably romantic space, unexpectedly deep set (you pass through several rooms/hallways to get to the main dining room) and appropriately decorated. We shared: amberjack carpaccio (good), arancini (good), crema of peas (excellent), risotto with asparagus (excellent), spaghettone with tomato sauce and pecorino (excellent), and a very nice dessert of chestnut cream and poached pear. I tried Sangrantino for the first time and enjoyed those deep tannins. Highly recommended.

During an Umbrian holiday based in Todi, we stumbled on La Locanda del Prete Saragano whilst we were out driving and discovering one day. This restored village has a commanding position high on the hill overlooking wide expanses of Umbrian countryside. We arrived unannounced, hungry and it way past lunchtime. However, we were warmly welcomed by the restaurant manager and promptly shown to our table with a spectacular view. The restaurant offers an âoldâ and ânewâ menu â they both looked wonderful. We chose from the ânewâ menu and were delighted with our meals and accompanying local wine.La Locanda is really a hilltop escape â a renewed pristine small village with an offering of very nice apartments and an excellent restaurant. We imagine it would be an excellent base for a quiet few days in Umbria â within easy reach of famous towns like Assisi, Todi, Spello, etc. A look at their website will give you more of an appreciation of their offering; we can certainly vouch for their stylish restaurant as being an ideal venue to laze away a few hours.

After a several hour shopping trek in Deruta, my husband and I asked a local shopkeeper for a lunch recommendation. He responded by asking us, "Do you have time or do you have to rush off?" We said we had time. He suggested L'Antico Forziere, just a couple of km from where we were, and that if we went there, we would want to return again and again. Wow, what a great two hours we spent at this lovely ristorante. A picturesque and historic setting, a 400 year old building, where the lower level is where you can enjoy a truly delicious dining experience in a comfortable and relaxing environment. So pretty when we walked in. Nice regional wine list, interesting menu with lovely combinations, it was difficult to choose. The scallops for antipasti were cooked perfectly, crisp outer side yet they achieved that melt-in-your-mouth with a mousse that was divine. I chose the tuna and my husband the pork. The pork was uniquely plated and paired with greens and a pineappley addition which created the perfect combo of crunch and flavor. The tuna was seared beautifully alongside a geometric grouping of green beans and veges. The cinnamon creme brûlée with wine-drenched pear brought all these flavors together in a wonderful way, the presentation almost too beautiful to eat alongside the expertly created spun sugar decorations. We devoured it.Our waiter was so friendly, and let us enjoy our wonderful lunch here undisturbed. Thank you to this wonderful family owned restaurant. We will be back....again and again.Thank you again for the lunch in our restaurant and thank you very much for your wonderful review. Went here with a party of friends/colleagues for what we thought was going to be 'nibbles' and following a really depressing, heavy and greasy meal the night before in Assissi...this was the total opposite and totally restored our faith in the wonder of Italian cooking. Enter through an unprepossessing door, with no hint of the 'restaurant' about it, into a cheerful, bright interior to be welcomed by young, smiling, enthusiastic staff. Our meal had been pre-ordered and was a voyage of joyful discovery! a wonderful tomatoey starter, tart and pungent and moreish; light, melt-in-the-mouth tempura vegetables; sticky, risotto with the flavour of local truffles making it impossible not to eat even though I was full to bursting...rich, local wine completed the feast. If you find yourselves in Foligno - get yourselves there!
