Central location modern budget hotel
Reviewed By David BStayed for 3 nights during a tour of Sicily. The room was clean and modern with good facilities. The shower was very small, about 600mm x 600mm, so not very much room for an average adult. There was no safe in the room, nor at reception, I was informed the hotel was very secure so didn't need it! The issue I had was that the room keycard had the room number on it, which I found very strange and not secure. The breakfast area was clean and had a good range of cakes, croissants, ham & cheese etc although the coffee machine only worked about 50% of the time. There was no lounge or bar and no restaurant for evening meals, however it wasn't more than 10 minutes walk form a lively street with plenty of bars and restaurants. In all a good location for exploring Palermo. It is primarily used as student location for nearby university so there are many youngsters staying there.

Our apartment is located in the town square in front of the extraordinary Arab-Norman Cathedral, one of the architectural jewels of Sicily. From here it is possible to walk to the Mandralisca Museum, which hosts a famous painting by Antonello da Messina; to start a walk up La Rocca, the hill overlooking the town from where a breathtaking view of the coast from Palermo to Messina can be enjoyed; or to go for a swim in the clear, blue sea near the picturesque local fishermen's port, along the street of the shopping. From Cefalu it is easy to travel by train to Palermo; to the magnificent Madonie Mountains and their nature park; to all the main sites of Western Sicily (Agrigento, Piazza Armerina, Catania, Taormina and the volcano Mount Etna) with organized trips or with public buses; and also to the unique Aeolian Islands. Our apartment is on the first floor of Palazzo Villelmi, which dates back to the 15th century and still has a simple corner window from that period with a little column in the middle. It is a valuable document of the bourgeoisie taste from the Renaissance, showing also the signs of an inscription on its arch. The apartment is composed of 2 beautiful balconies overlooking the main square, living room with kitchenette, bathroom with shower, single bedroom, double bedroom in the loft and a sofa bed in the living room.

Reviewed By mirt0hWe had a nice spacious room, good beds, ample space.- Bedrooms on the top floor, a sitting room annex kitchen on the lower floor. Friendly reception, help with carrying off the luggage to the room. Good bathroom. A bit narrow shower cubicle. We only stayed for two nights on a stop over so we did not use much of the other facilities such as the well equipped kitchen. It was nice to be able to walk within minutes to the central square with all the restaurants, coffee terraces literally within two minutes walk.

Reviewed By 853barryOur experience was so so! Firstly,we advised them in advance that we would arrive there,from Rome at 6pm. We had yet to buy a sim card,so could not call them....there was no-one there ! We were able to get access to the lobby,by someone else leaving...their office was empty. A kind neighbour took pity on us and phoned the co...eventually someone showed up! Hint...have your phone ready...as access is difficult if the office is unoccupied. Secondly,WIFI was very poor,we had to go to restaurants for reliable WIFI. Perfect location for exploring Palermo. Room was ok,but the 'breakfast' that was included....turned out to be 2 frozen snacks in the freezer....that would be replaced each day.. We passed and ate out.! It was well priced...but not too attractive. Few restaurants close by,had to walk a little way into the centre to find a decent place to eat. Have seen previous reviews of 'friendly and willing staff'......well,they were pretty much absent when we stayed there!

Beautiful Resort
Reviewed By JMHewerThe resort is situated high above the sea with views of 2 volcanic islands. The road up is winding and narrow but well marked. On arrival, leave your luggage in your car and ask for assistance as the walkways are all gravel which means you’ll carry your bag not roll it. The surroundings were peaceful and the pool was perfect for relaxing. Our only complaint is that the room was very hot and we could not control the temperature with the in room panel. We were told that guests like the room warm and that the hotel controls room temperature. There was no bathroom fan which meant showers created a sauna like environment in the room. The meals were delicious with a full breakfast buffet and a limited but wonderful dinner menu. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Good place to live on high season

From the counter I didn't feel it was anything in particular when it comes to service. We had a sense since it was lowseason they weren't eager as far as the total experience. Just asking as we check out "did you have a nice stay" - very uninterested. But as I said I think they make more effort probably when it's high season and they have more staff. A friendly advice to them would be. Ad more alcoholic option in the fridge in the room. One mini-bottle and one can of beer is a bit cheap since we are in two. Yes we could call for service but when we sat in the pool I had to go out of the hotel and next door bsr to order and then go back. We would spend triple as much if we could order from our sunbeds by the pool, if the fridge was more stacked with options for 2 people. Also I suggest renting a car if you live here.. Restaurant there was good "blanco", good staff, good food.. weekends can be busy with different event. Last time we ate the food wasn't really as good and we could tell they where super stressed.

Clean and perfect location
Reviewed By PitgsI stayed there with 2 friends for few days mid June and we loved the place. Sandro welcomed us and showed us the apartment with his fluent English. Even tho is in the heart of the city is very easy to find the parking very close to the accommodation. The apartment was clean and it had AC available. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Reviewed By SaltpilgrimΜικρό οίκημα, όπως τα περισσότερα στο ιστορικό κέντρο. Τριώροφο, σε μικρή πλατεία, που έχει και ελεύθερο πάρκινγκ, αν βέβαια πετύχεις θέση. Μείναμε στο 2ο όροφο. Είχε κωδικούς ασφαλείας για να ανοίγεις και μας φάνηκε ιδιαίτερα ασφαλές και ήσυχο. Είμασταν τέσσερις και βολευτήκαμε καλά, αφού είχε υπνοδωμάτιο με διπλό κρεβάτι και διπλό καναπέ-κρεβάτι για τα παιδιά. Είχε τα βασικά, χωρίς όμως ιδιαίτερες πολυτέλειες. Το οίκημα ήταν, φυσικά, παλιό, αλλά σε καλή κατάσταση. Το μπάνιο άνετο, όπως και το δωμάτιο, αν και μας φάνηκε ότι δεν ήταν σχολαστικά καθαρισμένα. Το μεγάλο του πλεονέκτημα ήταν η εξαιρετική του θέση. Στην καρδιά του ιστορικού κέντρου, πολύ κοντά στο Παλάτι των Νορμανδών και στον Καθεδρικό του Παλέρμο. Παρκάραμε το αυτοκίνητο στην πλατεία και δεν το χρησιμοποιήσαμε παρά μόνο την ημέρα που ξαναφύγαμε. Οπότε, τέλεια θέση για να επισκεφθείς όλα τα αξιοθέατα, αλλά χρειάζεται λίγη βελτίωση σε καθαριότητα και ανανέωση εξοπλισμού. Επίσης πρόβλημα και η γλώσσα για όποιον δε μιλά ιταλικά, αφού από αγγλικά ή άλλες γλώσσες...

Great room
Reviewed By nancyl389My husband and I stayed for two nights while researching his family history. The room was very comfortable and clean. Francesco and his brother Emanuele were wonderful hosts who went far and beyond helping us make the most of our stay. The location is at the beginning of central Cerda and is an easy walk to everything. A small grocery store on the street is nice. Definitely recommend this small hotel.
