The moment we left the autostrada we knew we were in for a good time, because there were signposts to Grotta Dell'Eremita every kilometre of the way.The views from Grotta Dell'Eremita are spectacular and the welcome ( including for our dog) was warm.Despite being the only people eating we didn't feel self conscious as we were made welcome and offered the full menu, but our food was freshly cooked (no reheated dishes here) The house wine was great and most of what we ate was home produced, so we really enjoyed our meal.We also stayed and the room was fantastic, and when we asked for extra blankets they were delivered immediately to the room.The surrounding countryside is spectacular and the twin towns of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertozza well worth the tortuous drive

Lovely location, and if you can get a window seat, great views. Friendly enough staff. The restaurant itself is lovely, however they try to sell that they serve authentic rustic Lucana cuisine. This however is not reflected in the price or produce. A 1/2 glass of wine and gasosa, (with plenty of ice) â¬3.50!?! The platter of âlocal slice meatsâ were standard mass produced mortadella, Milano salami, prosciutto etc. No local handmade salamis as hoped for (â¬13)They served nothing that you canât buy in a local supermarket for a fraction of the price. Yes, your village is getting busier due to tourism, but continue along this path and your reputation and profits will soon fall!!

We visited Pietraposa for the views, which are extraordinary. But also called in for a light lunch at GVnine. Thank goodness! Lovely focaccia, light Spumante on tap, good beers , excellent ice cream and, best of all, delightful family staff. Also, the cleanest (only clean) cafe toilets in Italy, even with clean intact seats. Very highly recommended and well deserving of 5 stars.

Locale piccolo ma confortevole, noi abbiamo mangiato pizza e devo dire che sono riamasto piacevolmente meravigliato. Una pizza più che deliziosa, impasto fragrante condimento abbondante e qualità eccezionale. I prezzi sono bassi Sicuramente se tornerò verrò a mangiare una buona pizza qui da rocco.marco.

..and excellent Antipasto del Casa with a variety of items I haven't had before. Good house wine to compliment the antipasto and the pasta dishes we ordered were very good. I liked my wife's Carbonara better than my pasta entree. The service was friendly and courteous to us, not speaking Italian very well, but we communicated and had a good time. A good meal can be found here for sure.

...searched for a local place to eat, found this on TripAdvisor, Google maps and gps were inaccurate, but got help from a local couple who had us follow them there. Arrived to find the place was closed...perhaps for the season....??

Varied menu, fast service, good prices and fantastic food. WiFi. Had lunch and the owner shook me by the hand when I returned the following day for dinner - I think I was the only tourist / new face in Tricarico in October. A football match was on the TV screens at the back and front of the room with an enthusiastic crowd of guys shouting encouragement at the players, but it all lent itself to a convivial friendly atmosphere. The wine list doesn't include small quantities such as wine by the glass but 1/4 litre of local wine is possible and very reasonably priced.

We happened on this restaurant at 2pm on a Bank Holiday. We were hungry, but expected to find the door locked.Not a bit of it! A log fire blazing in the large grate, and two or three tables occupied. Everyone gave us 'Buon Giorno', and the son of the house hurried to welcome us.After a 'lagniappe' starter of buffalo mozzarella whipped with chopped hazelnuts (or was it walnuts?) We each then enjoyed a very nice, generous starter, shared a mixed salad, and then were served with beautifully cooked wild boar meat and porcini (there should be a poem written about this dish - oh boy!). We cannot remember if we had desserts - we were probably too stuffed. We still have the receipt for this feast, and it was amazingly low-priced. A hidden gem - do find it if you are travelling that way - and it's a beautiful drive.

Il locale è carino ma un poâ troppo poco âpersonaleâ, comunque curato ed accogliente, così come i ragazzi che ci lavorano. La sera ci hanno detto che ânon facciamo primiâ ma dopo 400km di viaggio siamo stati abbastanza convincenti (o minacciosi??) da convincerli a servirci ottima pasta con funghi tartufo e pistacchi. Prima avevamo preso un buon antipasto con salumi saporiti, ottime melanzane ripiene ed altre sfiziose portate. Poi è arrivato un maialino nero al forno con patate veramente molto buono. Buono anche il vino della casa. Il prezzo contenuto è la ciliegina finale, ma probabilmente il mix di simpatia e qualità delle cose che abbiamo mangiato (e gradito!) è lâarma vincente. Bravi!

The place is friendly arranged. Quality of food is geniun. Pizza (Paolo zolf is cooking) is delicious. Rocco was a good player and actually he puts that quality in service. I really suggest this plase for a gorgeous dinner
