Hotel near Lucca and Pisa

We stayed in a quadruple room on the third floor, under the roof. Lots of space. Window in the roof and in the bathroom. Closed really dark, open enough light. Good breakfast with slightly different choices per day. Lunch was good, nice sandwiches (went 1 time). Dinner not so good quality (went 1 time). Terras around the building, table tennis and a tenniscourt. Loggia where you can sit as wel. Infinity pool with enough beachchairs and parasols. No shower. Ash trays everywhere, at the pool, in the loggia, not cleaned frequently so it seems. Beach towels from the hotel for the pool. Close to Lucca and Pisa. Reception staff friendly.

Casa Vacanze Le Muse

Outstanding warm hospitality

Reviewed By BMA3644

I've stayed Le Muse in Sillico 4-5 times over the past 4 years, most recently Feb 2022. Always, the host Paola and her small team provide a warm and genuine welcome. I have arrived on a winter evening to find the fire in my apartment quietly burning - yes, there is good central heating, but the fire is a nice addition (not in all rooms, though). The kitchens are well-equipped, with everything you need if you want to cook yourself. Wifi can be a bit patchy. Sillico, the little village (less than 100 people) is very picturesque, lovely Italian hilltop village dating back to the 1400's, with friendly locals and fabulous views across to the snow-capped mountains. There is a great restaurant/bar in the village, the Belvedere, run by sisters Clara and Roberta. Understandably, the menu can be a bit limited in winter when you may be the only person there, but in warmer seasons, it comes alive with both locals and visitors, excellent traditional local food - last time I was there, the cinghiale (wild boar) stew was from a boar shot by Roberta's brother-in-law. You can't get much more local than that! Watching the sunset across the valley from the Belvedere terrace, with a prosecco in hand, is not to be missed. There are several other excellent restaurants locally, within about 5 km, great walking tracks (various grades and distances) in the hills around the village, walks are well-signed, maps and lots of local knowledge available from Paola. Highly recommended.

Great B&B just outside the walls

Reviewed By dickiemint71

Really great B&B just outside the walls of Lucca. Easy parking at the property or just across the road. Friendly owner, clean and nicely presented rooms. Extensive breakfast choices. It was only a stopover on the way, but would likely stay here for a few days if visiting again. Thank you!

Faulty Towers

Reviewed By philiphunter5

We were charged €150 for the night for a little suite. The sower had no shower head, the fan and Mosquito net did not exist, all the towels and bedding was damp and the coffee machine did not work. You also have to have your breakfast in the room which was substandard. The only good thing about the place was the swimming pool area.

Amazing grounds & a beautiful building!

Reviewed By Mojito12

Not a pleasant welcome at all, which was disappointing considering we had walked well over 30km to reach the place and the place itself and the grounds were so beautiful! However they did have workmen there at the time, so may be that fact contributed to their total lack of a welcome, smile or conversation (even meal times, wifi password etc), which may not be their normal welcome to guests. Our room was very nice with a lovely view of the grounds & the lovely stream that passes through. The grounds were truly beautiful and the outdoor restaurant lovely. The menu was great, the food delicious & well presented and the service terrific! The restaurant and bar areas inside were really lovely and the inclusion of the old mill into the decor was very beautiful.

Fattoria di Fubbiano

On a south facing hillock of the gentle sloping hills of Lucca, lies the Fattoria di Fubbiano, a 45 hectares (135 acres) estate comprised of vineyards, olive groves and woods. Here, winters are mild and cornucopia of wild flowers begins blooming as early as January. At Fubbiano we are committed to nurturing the exceptional agricultural potential of our property by developing exciting groves and vines and diversifying our products while promoting indigenous varieties of olives and grapes. We strongly believe in maintaining the delicate chain of a balanced biological ecosystem and only use traditional organic products to protect our vines from deseases. Weed-killers or insecticides are never applied. We have revived the traditional way of rural life and faithfully restored the estate's original buildings, in order to retain their unique architectural character and to offer to our guests the chance to live a pleasant stay in a special rural setting. The main products of the Fubbiano estate are our award-winning extra-virgin olive oil and our DOC Colline Lucchesi wines that we sell also at our farm shop. Experience Tuscany from its most beautiful side. Between vineyards and olive groves, far away from the stresses and strains of modern life. Here, winters are mild, and various flours begin blooming as early as January. During the summer, a mild breeze blows down from the hills, while in autumn, maturing vines set the fields ablaze in a rainbow of colours. Holidays/stays can be booked in the large Villa, the farmhouse and several large apartments. All houses are fully equipped with crockery, silverware, glasses and pans, as well as sheets and towels, which are changed weekly. The estate also has a round swimming pool (8 m), to which all our guests have access. Once a week, we conduct wine tastings for our guest. On your request, we will also organise a cook who will prepare delicious local dishes for you. The estate‘s ideal location provides numerous opportunities for an interesting vacation/stay. Some examples that are easily reached by car: Lucca and the villas dotting the surrounding countryside; Collodi (Pinocchio theme park); Pisa; Florence; Siena, Arezzo; the spa towns of Montecatini, Monsummano and Bagni di Lucca; Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio (seaside – La Versilia); the mountain landscape of Garfagnana and the Cinque Terre.

Wine tasting

We were able to sneak in a tasting with Laura on the off season. She was so sweet and knowledgeable of the wines. We really enjoyed the Elisir Pour Viver white wine and the Fubbiano red. There was plenty of great wines, olive oil and company to be had. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful location, spacious room and bathroom

Reviewed By natters1979

I stayed here in June for my friend’s beautiful wedding. The grounds are stunning and particularly in the hot weather everything looked even more stunning. The ground are really extensive and there are a number of villas varying in size for a number of people to stay along with three lovely swimming pools. We stayed in Bernardini next to a pool with a vista of the hills and it was simply beautiful. I can still picture it now. The room was spacious with a wardrobe and other storage space. The bathroom was very spacious too but unfortunately, probably due to the time of year, there were lots of mosquitos. The Villa was located about an hour’s (max) drive from Pisa airport and about 25 minutes from Lucca.

Consigliato sicuramente.
