Reviewed By JohnsonCalariWe spent three fabulous days fishing with Tito as a fishing guide in the adjacent spectacular lakes and rivers of el parque de las alerces. The hotel was welcoming, hospitable and elegant. One cannot speak of the hotel without praising the food, which took center stage. Bountiful vegetables picked daily from the greenhouse, meats—venison, lamb, beef, wild boar- from local providers with exquisite sauces and incredible deserts. Deborah is an artist as well as a caring hostess with her daughter. Early morning coffee in front of the fire remains a special memory.

Better than expected
Reviewed By Beatrice LAfter reading the recently written reviews, I decided to write one to get the record straight. Casa de Paula is a B&B, not a hotel. All the rooms are different, and I knew which ones were allocated to me. I spent two nights at different times. Because the B&B was full, for the second night I was given the window-less room. It was also cheaper. Since I was getting up at dawn, I didn't mind. Trelew is not a tourist destination except for the Paleontology museum which deserves a visit. The displays offers information in English. Its dinosaurs are awesome! The regional airport is in Trelew, and overnight in the city is often necessary. I was heading to Puerto Piramides in Valdes Peninsula. Paula was friendly, she even gave me a ride downtown. The staff was efficient. Breakfast was fine, but too many sweets for my taste. I got what I paid for. Argentina is a Spanish speaking country, very few people speak English in Patagonia.

Lovely hideaway off the beaten path
Reviewed By Joyce NThis lovely, rustic, little cabana is tucked away in a wooded residential area on the outskirts of Trelew. My daughter and I stayed in one of two self-contained, spacious units with a large bedroom and loft. There was a comfortable, spacious living/kitchen area well suited for self sufficient travelers to stay several nights. The bathroom had plenty of towels and hot water. Breakfast is not included except by special arrangement with the owners whose main home is on the property. With wifi navigation we found El Colibri readily, but its location is not especially straightforward. Of course, that makes it a quiet, peaceful place to stay. We rented a car in Trelew, opting to stay in this small town so we could drive to Punta Tombo the next morning. That was an excellent, time-saving decision, made easy by staying at El Colibri. Without a car, one would have to rely on taxi service. The hosts are friendly, congenial and most accommodating of their guests. We paid in cash with US dollars. We would return to El Colibri without hesitation.

Reviewed By JimenaLozada2021We went with my family after driving for 20 hours when we arrived we had the worst welcome to “The Paradise” not! The owner a very grumpy and bad manner guy who should be in a different business got annoyed with his staff because they had to call him to check our booking. He came, didn’t say hi and was in a bad mood with us because we couldn’t find the booking. After that we didn’t want to spend any more money on his business so didn’t eat there but it was pretty empty anyway. At checkout they tried to charge us more than they told us over the phone which is already a fortune compare to the other hotels. Again didn’t say hello, or goodbye and I told him we weren’t happy with his attitude that at least he should say hello, after all we were customers. He then lied and said he wasn’t the owner in front of his staff whom had just told me the contrary. I would not support his business at all, i feel sorry for his staff who are very nice but he shouldn’t be on the hotel business with that manner and bad attitude.

This was the most expensive hotel that we booked during our 4 month stay in South America and they charged me twice (!). The costumer services said they would take care of it but so far; nothing received. Also we booked a private room with double bed and ended up in a 6 bed dorm room with seperate beds. It is really far from the city center. This hotel was our only option because it was a national holiday and every place was fully booked in town. Which also resulted in a concert going on downstairs untill 2am. But to end on a possitive note: they have a clean bathroom and made breakfast early for us.
