Reviewed By drcostonHotel liberty is in a residential area some 5 to 10 minutes away by foot from the largest Plaza in Catania. We stayed one night. We found our hotel room to be clean, quiet, and the amenities were of nice quality. The continental breakfast consisted of fresh fruits and juice, an assortment of breads, and other breakfast food. We found them all to be of good quality. You may also get specialty coffees such as a cappuccino. The food was delicious. Our interactions were very good with all the staffers. A shout out to Valentina who arranged a self guided walking tour and an excellent seafood restaurant. The website pictures are accurate.

It located in a wonderful position because is a few steps from Giardino Bellini, Via Etna and Viale XX Settembre, famous for its palaces Art Nouveau. The palace has been completely renovated, with the aim of preserve the original style of the building, with a touch of modernity that is typical of "OttoMood". Everything has been studied and planned to offer our guests maximum comfort and environmentally sustainable. In the palace there is a lift, and also stairs made in Carrara marble and in the inner side of the building, there is a covered outdoor terrace, a relaxing area equipped with sofa, tables and coffee machine. Although all the rooms are non-smoking, smokers can smoke in this area. Our B&B uses energy-saving lights, home automation, natural materials, and solar energy, reducing the impact of its activities on the environment.

The owners are helpful in every way from the day I wanted to book till the end of our stay. We were a big group, thus it was not easy to accommodate all of us but they made sure our requests were honoured. Thanks ...we will be back!

The way they handled our issue with the rent a car agency exceeded our expectations. They are truly devoted to the customer experience to which they delivered at each front. We will be back.

Reviewed By Extraordinary782232Very nice hotel, desk staff were very helpful. Location is great, lots of food options nearby. Nice area for walking around. Do not like the continuous tinkling of piano music in the public areas. View of Etna from the balcony was unexpected and fabulous.

The friendliest hotel I’ve ever visited

Arguably the friendliest staff I’ve /ever/ encountered when traveling through Europe. Breakfast was amazing and delicious. On my final day, I left very early for the airport and they not only helped secure a taxi, they also set up breakfast early so I could get food before leaving. If I ever find myself in Catania again, I’m 100% staying here.

Perfectly adequate hotel
Reviewed By MichelleS994If I could have given the hotel 3.5, I would have done. Firstly, the location. It is a bit off the beaten track but not by much. My daughter and I are fairly healthy but couldn't face climbing the hill in the heat. Saying that, the location makes the hotel peaceful and there is a shuttle bus which is excellent. The hotel is absolutely spotless and the bedrooms are modern and also very clean. Our room had a nice balcony. It wasn't a huge room but fine for the two of us. Breakfast was good. If you're used to huge buffet breakfasts, you may be disappointed but the selection was more than adequate. The food was all fresh and the coffee was very good. The staff...very officious, I would say. Other than the guy on the bar and the shuttle bus drivers, I would really struggle to say any of the staff I came across were friendly. We arrived quite late the first night (yes BA, your fault with your planes that need an overhaul) and the man on reception was pretty dismissive and was unable to offer us any room service. I get that wasn't possible but there was no empathy. He was very brusque. Due the staff, I don't think I'd rush back. Not a bad hotel, at all but could be much better with friendlier staff.

There is also a tennis court and a modern fitness centre open 24/7 with Technogym equipment. Parking 24/7 for a fee
Distinctly average bland hotel

It’s rather bland, has little character, no atmosphere in the evenings, and the staff are somewhat indifferent to guests. Reception staff were good, swimming pool and bar staff were not great. The room was big and clean, the bathroom was poor. The shower pressure was a joke. The ageing spa bath something out of the 90s and couldn’t get it working. The breakfast was average at best. Cold potatoes and mass produced rubbery scrambled egg and bacon the only hot option. Cheap and nasty coffee machines. But the snack food at the pool bar even worse. The club sandwich was barely edible. Cheap and nasty fries, and poor quality sandwich overpriced. Cocktails poor and overpriced. Bar man could not mix a decent cocktail. Ridiculous opening hours for swimming pool - they closed at 6pm despite sunset being 830pm! And then of course at start of June they start charging for use of the pool. Low and behold then the pool opens until 7 despite me being told there was a legal reason why they could not keep the pool open gone 6. But anyway to charge for that pool is a joke. It’s just not good enough to be worth a charge. Poor design means most sun beds have a view of the wall not appealing at all. Smoking permitted so chances are you sit on your (fixed) sunbed with smoke blowing in your face and you can’t move beds. Also there is a dangerous section when walking to the sea terrace - a low wall that could be easy to fall over to your death. Accident waiting to happen IMO. The sea terrace itself was better but underused they didn’t seem to serve drinks and food down there and they have ugly scaffolding unfinished in the garden next door. The hotel is a long way from town so would have to be great to justify staying there but it’s just not that good I’m afraid. I visited the baia grand just up the road and the grounds and atmosphere are just way better. So overall it’s 3 star at best and no reason I can think of to return.
