Reviewed By TomD490When the proprietor of the hotel Villa Elena, just up the street, didn’t show up to open the hotel we went to Garni Suisse and they rented us a room at the last minute. The hotel owners were very friendly. They helped us at every turn. There weren’t any restaurants open in town in early May, so the first evening we drove to Fiera di Primiero and bought a huge pizza and took the uneaten half back to the hotel. The following evening we asked if they had a microwave oven that we could reheat our leftover pizza, and they showed us the large breakfast room with a microwave and gave us plates and cutlery. The hotel was very clean and had a great view of the spectacular mountains that jut up from the valley floor. We ate breakfast in the small eating area. They provided a nice assortment of foods. In the high season they use the large room and have a larger selection than when only one or two rooms are occupied.

Excellent small boutique hotel
Reviewed By VijkashThe rooms are large and comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent too. The lobby has a library room next to it which is very cosy with a fire place and comfortable seating to relax in. The staff was very friendly and eager to look after us. Tea , coffee was provided in the room. There is a kids play room on the premises next to the dining area which is very handy There is ample parking in the hotel so getting to the hotel is not a problem. A very good pizzeria is 100mt away which is highly recommended. This is a great hotel which is a small distance from the ski slopes but minus the crowds.

I am lucky to now live in the sheltered valley of Primiero under the magnificent Italian Dolomites of Pale di San Martino (UNESCO heritage site) and towards the end of the breathtakingly beautiful Val Canali, which leads to the heart of these mountains, one can eat delicious food at the hotel/restaurant Cant del Gal (song of the cockerel). The family and staff are always so welcoming, the restaurant cosy with its big ceramic stove and the menu not only offers typical local dishes, but always has an interesting "specials of the day" with more seasonal and innovative choices. House wines are excellent, prices amazing value for money. My main reason for choosing this restaurant is the fact I can always try something new and creative, that also never disappoints.

Best for local cuisine in stunning location
Reviewed By thoughtfuldinerChalet Piereni is in a dreamy location and this already sets you in a good mood for their hearty and generous home-style cuisine. I would go back again and again just for their canederli trio, which are the best I've ever tried without the use of "luxury" ingredients (such as truffle): moist, incredibly tasty (they come in three varieties: cheese, beetroot, speck), and lusciously dressed with butter and parmesan. In the course of two visit (it was out favourite choice to recover from our long walks in the mountains...), we also tried their soups, an asparagus velouté deeply enriched by finely chopped speck, and a humble leek and potato equally enriched by the "Puzzone di Moena" cheese. A grilled "tosela" with polenta and field mushrooms was good although after a while the taste experience begins to be a little dull - we preferred another version of the dish with local sausage. A pasta with porcini ("old style" with cream, but not too much) was very tasty with a generous amount of the splendid mushrooms (obviously preserved given the season, but good quality), and the pasta was nicely cooked. Service is polite and friendly. If you can eat outside, do it as the view is fabulous, but also the inside room in alpine style is cute. Prices are super-friendly in view of quality and quantity.

Wonderful hospitality
Reviewed By oxsltI stayed here with three friends on a walking trip in the Dolomites. Our stay was booked by an Italian friend who had stayed there before. The rooms are simple. I had a double for single use. The bed took up most of the room so a tight squeeze if two of you but it was clean and comfortable. The Baita is set high up giving wonderful views, a narrow twisty drive up. The two meals we had were good and at breakfast there was a plentiful choice of bread, cereal, fruit cheeses, meat. As with many places in the Dolomites it is family run and the family was very welcoming

wonderful stay
Reviewed By montywestThe four of us stayed at the Albergo Maso Col for two nights in a quad room in order to tackle the classic walk from the Altoplano down to the hotel. The hotel is in a fabulous location in a meadow at the end of a long driveway with the dramatic Dolomites as a backdrop. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and the food is good. The staff are friendly. Our stay stretched our budget but it was worth it. Excellent.
