The Pestana Trópico is a hotel located on the Ilha de Santiago in Cabo Verde only 10 minutes from the historic centre, the neighbourhood of Plateau. Reviewed By shannonmS3515AIAll the staff are very friendly staff and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The hotel has a beautiful salt water pool with a beach view. Within walking distance to several good restaurants along the beach.

New hotel in modern design; air conditioning, hot water, safe, television in each room. All rooms have private bath particular. Restaurant and pub. Staff young and very pleasant. Languages: French / Portuguese / Creole / English. 5 minutes from the airport and 2 minutes walk from the city center. Beach 5 minutes by car.
Superior service in small hotel near the plateau

Brought us to avery authentic music show in a small but good restaurant As Campanas( go there!) and helped us with many other things the room was clean and comfortable the breakfast on a nice terrace on 4th floor was very good and the price was reasonable 55 euros 6000 escudos we recommend it strongely

Very disappointing for a hotel rated as one of the best in Praia
Reviewed By georgew875The reception area was smart but the room less so. For a start the room was located under a spreading tree hosting huge numbers of sparrows. The small sitting out area with two chairs and a table was covered in bird droppings so was unusable being both unsightly and unhygienic. The swimming pool was out of repair so not available. The shower fitting was broken and leaked. We reported this and there was some improvement but one of the fittings still did not work. The wash basin plug would not close so it was not possible to fill the basin. The water was not very hot at most times and not hot at all in the morning.

Breakfast was good and the hotel staff was professional and friendly. Suggestion for improvement: It would be good to have more towels in the room.

Great staff, good location
Reviewed By PurobiDowntown Praia is noisy and has its share of fishy characters floating around but this is probably the only location in Praia where one can get real feeling of the town. We stayed in other parts of town where the wealthy reside but from now on we will stay here. The staff are superb. Friendly, accommodating, efficient, and hard working. Great restaurant, great breakfast, and we had excellent dinner too. We stayed in their apartment building. Although the room was big and beautiful, it was extremely noisy at night. WiFi barely worked, and there was no hot water. However, since we know Praia and it's hotel situation a bit too well, we are staying here from now on.

Reviewed By Ani LExcellent location! Roof top pool with amazing view. Young dynamic staff with great customer service, very welcoming and attended to most of our needs & wants. The complimentary breakfast was 5 stars, with all you can possibly want, fresh & delicious. Spacious room with a nice view, very comfortable bed. One star short of 5 stars due to no iron in the room (had to pay to have them iron my clothes) and no cozy blanket available (I understand the warm climate, however, those of us who like to crank up the AC and cozy up with a blanket will have to do with a paper thin cover). I plan on staying here again every time I travel to Praia, Cabo Verde and hopefully next time my review will be 5 stars reflecting these easily fixable hiccups.

More than a perfect deal
Reviewed By Chiara BOur stay at Syd's Guesthouse was simply wonderful: the location is very convenient, far from the crowd but close to bars, restaurants and the city beaches; the place is super clean and essentially furbished yet with amazing taste; home-made breakfast is just over the top; the staff is truly kind and helpful. When we needed advice and suggestions, Syd was there to give her best recommendations; the only one time in 7 days that we had an issue, they were there too to promptly fix it.

absolutely terrible
Reviewed By HansA1013long wait for signing in. room 202 2x3.5 m, no real windows (small inner court with smells). one 1 3W bulb not LED for the entire room. very dark, impossible to read. no bulb in second lamp. inconfortable bed. only boiling water for shower, not possible to shower. upon complaining they made jokes between themselves about myself. after 36 hours somebody finally came (after 3 complaints) and realized that not only there was only boiling water but that also the sink was clogged. ultraslow lift. breakfast without coffee, cheese etc at 7 am. some coffee arrived at 7.30 when i had to leave.
