Pitlochry Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Pitlochry

April 24, 2023 Misti Hsu

Highland Perthshire places some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery within easy reach of both Glasgow and Edinburgh, and Pitlochry is the most geared-up base from which to enjoy it. It’s been a bustling mountain resort since the railways arrived in 1863, and these days manages to be both a cozy favorite for tourists who enjoy browsing in its woolen mills and taking in the repertory of plays at its famous Festival Theatre, and a magnet for adrenalin junkies in search of bungee jumping, canyoning, tubing and white water rafting adventures. Visitors of any age will be intrigued by the Pictish carvings on the huge Dunfallandy stone at nearby Ballinluig and, after a bracing mountain walk or visit to the famous salmon ladder, adults can enjoy a warming dram of malt whiskey after a tour at one of the two local distilleries, Edradour and Blair Athol.

Jubilee weekend.

We managed to get the last room for the weekend. From when we arrived until we left we felt that the experience was far superior than other alternatives that we’d had before. Jane, Calum and Bailey were all so welcoming and treated us like real guests. The breakfast was incredible and shouldn’t be missed. The room fee was a little more than some of the other local alternatives but far superior. Small details as decent espresso machines, quality towels and Scottish soaps made the stay feel like a retreat. Don’t miss staying here. Avoid 3rd party booking websites as there wasn’t any saving for us and support these lovely people by booking online directly. I looked for the red squirrels but couldn’t see them. I’ll bring some nuts next time. Thanks. Dave and S

Very comfortable room, delicious food, and excellent service-attitude among all staff make this a very pleasant stay

Reviewed By Ashlander

Loved this Inn in the charming Scottish small town. The room was very comfortable, well appointed, with amenities. But the truly exceptional thing was the service attitude among the staff. Everyone was just unusually friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. We observed that they also treated each other with this same attitude to helpfulness and positivity. We attribute this to good management, and we certainly felt we benefitted from that. I received emails advising me to book for dinner if I wanted to eat at their establishment, and I received an almost immediate response when I did so. Other emails advising of our arrival time and asking about parking were also immediately acknowledged. The food at the Inn was also delicious and the place is obviously very popular locally. We could not have been more pleased with this accommodation, which for us, was a stop between St. Andrews golf day and Inverness. We were so happy we chose to stop here and experience this brand of Scottish hospitality. Definitively one of the best we have encountered so far in Scotland.

Anniversary weekend

Stayed here for 4 nights at start of June, we were welcomed by Gordon who immediately made us feel at home, we had a ground floor room overlooking the beautiful front gardens. The room was spotless and bathroom had a great walk in shower. We thought hard of what they could improve on but could not think of anything ?. The breakfasts were also first class and you order what you want the day before which is a great idea, you will leave the breakfast table fully satisfied. The outdoor seating area was also perfect for having a lazy afternoon in the sun watching the world go by with a wee glass or two of bubbly ??. Thanks again for making our anniversary weekend special.

Another Couple of Nights at This Dog Friendly Hotel

Reviewed By markyboy74

Just returned from another stay at this gem of a hotel perfectly positioned in the lovely town of Pitlochry Unfortunately no parking just now due to ongoing works for an extension to the rear of the hotel, however nearby on street parkings available. Check in was swift and we were fortunate to be allocated a comfortable room on the first floor with views of the Main Street and surrounding hills. The room was clean well maintained and well appointed with comfortable beds. The hotel is dog friendly and as such our dog took little time to get comfortable too. Service in the hotel’s restaurant was excellent at both breakfast time and during the evening. Staff were polite, professional and friendly. They had no issues accommodating our dog during meal times. We were respectful of fellow guests recognising many might not be too enthralled by our 4 legged family member so we were always careful not to encroach on their privacy or good will. Any other pets there were very well behaved and didn’t intrude of other guests stay. We noted several new members of staff in the evenings in the restaurant undergoing training, they did great and i’m sure they’ll go on to be great assets to the company. Check out was equally quick and friendly at the end of our stay. Whilst we noted the extension is at an advanced stage of construction with building work on-going, at no time was the work intrusive, with work finishing around 4.30 in the afternoon each day. We spoke with fellow guests from Scotland, England, Germany and the United States, all spoke highly of their stay too.

Cheap and cheerful

Reviewed By popsNcass

For the price I paid (£60), I couldn't complain. It's easy to find straight off the A9 and there's plenty of parking. The welcome was warm and friendly. The room was really quite nice. I was surprised to be honest and it'd clearly been renovated fairly recently. The room and bathroom were large and comfortable. The shower was good and the bed was very comfortable indeed. There were handy sockets and reading lamps right at each side of the bed. It has it negatives but I think that's due to the age of the building and its location. The floorboards are creaky and whenever anyone walked down the hallway (immediately behind the bed), you could feel the bed move. My room at the back of the hotel overlooked a somewhat messy rear area. Neither of these was a big issue though as the most important thing was the room and that was lovely. For the price paid, I would very happily stay here again.
