A proper Eastern European Spa!

This was my fourth visit to Hotel Esplanade. I visit Piestany to see my dentist but I love the great standard of treatment here. The therapists are excellent - but for UK visitors you must realize that they are therapists. This is not Champneys. The food is perfectly good and the wine/drinks are very good value. I found the staff wonderfully kind and helpful - when I was having treatment they ensured I had food when I needed it to fit in with my treatment. All the staff were helpful and kind - I was particularly grateful for the 0330 call. One can't always rely on getting the call in other hotels. It is also excellent value. I loved having a room with a balcony - even in January it was lovely to be able to sit outside with my coffee in the morning.

Not to recommend

The hotel is overestimated, the price is exaggerated. Our journey started with a false booking ( we prepaid the hotel one Monat in advance) and the booking could not be found. The false fire alarm system woke us up at 2 p.m and there were no apologies, reimbursement or announcement. The wellness area is not so great as pictures shows. The water in swimming pool is too cold, whirlpool's temperature was 24 degrees. The breakfast menu was basic as well.for this price you can definitely find a better quality.

Great location, nice apartment, very quiet

Reviewed By Martina U

We stayed at Adam Eva Resort for one night in May. The receptionist was nice, however, she was not able to tell us basic information about the spa they have in the resort. The apartment was fine, quite spacious, open space with kitchen corner, living room space and bedroom. Except for the stain on the carpet, it was clean, bed sheets and towels were clean too. Unfortunately, kitchen was missing some basic equipment, such as frying pan, tea/coffee cups, the lack of cutlery etc. There are enough parking lots in the resort and parking was free of charge. The location is great, less than 1 min walk from the city centre. Even though there was a music festival nearby, the room was very quiet. We also used spa facilities in the resort. The pity is, it's only open from 4pm till 9pm, but it was well equipped, with showers, cold pool, small pool/jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and infra sauna and we were also provided with towels and bathrobe for a reasonable price. I would recommend this place, but probably only for a short stay.

Jalta Ensana Health Spa Hotel

Not bad, but additional training of personnel urgently needed!

Reviewed By ala13

We arrived in Piestany shortly before 3pm and were able to check in right away. We were both lucky and unlucky in getting a front desk employee who was familiar with the theory but not with the actual check-in process. She did mention that she was replacing her colleague. She was very pleasant, but very stressed, a state that was easily transferred to people around her. As a result, she committed several mistakes, such as sending us to the wrong individuals and places to get our treatment plan, not being familiar with the process of registering the loyalty program; however, she was pleasant enough to be forgiven. We were assigned one of the newly renovated apartments facing the pedestrian zone. The accommodation consisted of two rooms, a hallway, and a bathroom with a shower (no tub), but large and bright enough, and balconies from both rooms. The bedroom’s layout consisted of the following: Two twin beds joined in the middle, but with two individual duvets; the pillows were the usual soft, European style, the mattress reasonably firm. The bed linen was crisp and of decent quality. The storage area in the bedroom was huge with plenty of wooden clothes hangers, and easily accommodated our clothes. There was also a small table and two chairs, in addition to a straight-back chair near the work desk. A 26 inch Samsung flat screen TV was in each room. There were also two small night lamps in the bedroom. The second room had a pull-out couch, an easy chair, a straight back chair near the work desk, a fridge, the already mentioned flat screen Samsung TV, and a few floor and table lamps. The WiFi was free and the signal was strong most of the time. The bathroom had a shower stall, a sink, and a toilet above which was a large window with frosted panes. The towels were of reasonably good quality. There was some shampoo and a small bar of soap. So, not luxurious by any means, but very functional and clean, at least initially. Besides, the location suited us to the T. As I graduated from the Hotel School (now Hotel Academy) in Piestany exactly 50 years ago, I was very happy to see my old dormitory just a few hundred meters away. Also, because the hotel was located at the beginning of the pedestrian zone, we had a great choice of eating places within a few minutes’ walk at very reasonable prices. Parking was available in a gated area at a very reasonable daily rate. We purchased a package called “Taste of Piestany” that included half board, i.e., breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was buffet style and included the usual spread found in 2-3 star hotels in North America. The coffee was barely drinkable and we opted to purchase a better quality coffee every morning. Dinner was quite tasty, but definitely not exciting. All meals and food items reminded me of food served in Eastern European hospitals in the 60’s. The package also included 11 medical treatments based on the local thermal water, such as the wellness baths and healing mud used in packs. Our treatments were administered in the Danubius Pro Patria and, while the treatments were excellent, the service provided by the employees of the spa was atrocious. Although I grew up in Czechoslovakia, I was appalled by the rude handling by the spa personnel, particularly of the locals. The only time I received a decent, polite treatment by the personnel was when I spoke English or German. I was embarrassed to have my Scottish-Canadian partner witness such rudeness. Having grown up in the Scotland, he very diplomatically described the utter lack of professionalism as “direct.” Hmm... The service at the Jalta Hotel lacked professionalism as well, particularly the housekeeping section. The bed linen wasn’t changed during our one-week stay at all, and we received clean towels only when we requested them. When the rooms were serviced, only the beds were made, no vacuuming or dusting was done, nor was the bathroom cleaned. Also, they allowed entry to our room to two young workers in our absence WITHOUT advising us; we had various personal items scattered on the two desks!
