Agriturismo s.Apollinare

There is a small section of Tuscany were you can hear the rooster crow every morning, where you can see hills full of golden grain that waves in the wind, where you can still smell the typical aromas of ancient Tuscan culinary tradition at lunch and dinner time... This small corner of paradise is found on the slopes of Monte Amiata, in a sunny and isolated position (the center of the medieval village is only 10 km away), in one of the most beautiful national parks in the world, the Val D'Orcia (Unesco World Heritage Site). Here there is an old farmhouse that has been restructured and furnished in arte povera, where peace, tranquility and hospitality are the landlords.

Tuscany in November

We had the pleasure of staying at this great Agriturismo S. Apollinare in Tuscany in mid November 2018 for 4 nights. Our hosts, Ornella and Claudio were warm welcoming people who are devoted to seeing to their guests’ every need. They couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you Ornella for the special treat of Tuscan biscuits, homemade of course, for our daily car touring. Delicious! We used three of the four touring route guides that they thoughtfully supplied to us by email- pre-trip. We thought that we were seeing some great sites that were not as well-known as others from the usual tour books. Coming from Canada, our Italian was nonexistent and although they did not speak English, somehow we managed to communicate. And of course there was always Eleanora, their daughter, who was available by phone if we got stuck. Or of course Google Translate. It was clear that Ornella loves to cook for her “new “family. And, Claudio is right there assisting and smiling. They provided hearty four course traditional Tuscan dinners that neither I nor my brother were able to finish. The fig jam made right there was divine! Their olive oil is wonderful and the rosemary and nocci infused home made cheese was delicious as was their own family produced vino, which we drank every day. This is the kind of place that at the end of the trip you want to (and did) take a picture with them for the memories, lots of smiles and invitations to return another year with our spouses. Great experience!

Relais Convento San Bartolomeo dimora storica

Convent of St. Bartolomeo Historical Estate in Tuscany A detailed renewal of the 14th century Franciscan estate brought the Saint Bartolomeo’s Convent back to its ancient splendour. This is all thanks to the owner, Prof. Vittorino Ricci Barbini, known urologist, who has decided to open up his own childhood house to visitors and guests.Within the Convent it’s possible to feel the magic of a“historical” house.

Marvelous place, really kind people!

Just one night, is a very short time to enjoy this marvelous hotel. But enough to transfer you so close to another epoque. This old monastery, built at 1200, can offer you the calmness and the mystery of a sacred place, with the beauty, the cleanness and all the comforts you need. The owners must be very proud for their job and the result. The restoration is unique. At our short stay in Italy and just after our booking to Convento san Bartolomeo, we were asked by the owners, if we needed extra directions for our trip, such as food and sightseeing. No one else of the hotels was interested about our needs. At our arrival, one of the owners, for about an hour, showed us the whole building, the cells, the winery and every part with great details. Next morning, due to our early flight departure from Rome, the owner prepared our breakfast at 5.00 o 'clock, with great willingness. Rarely, during my trips, i have met such really kind people. If you travel to Tuscany, spend some day to visit this hotel. It is a live museum at a hotel's prce. Enjoy!

Overall a luxury feeling!

The B&B is in a calm area close to everything. The room was great with good sized bathrooms and a lovely view from the window. You will hear the birds a lot in the morning but that was just awesome, in our opinion! Good sweet breakfast. The only thing is that it was hard to find since there is no sign and the street.

È bello trovare persone come te! Elisabetta e Emma

We were planning to visit Monte Amiata and since we were brining our dog, we found this agriturismo. Very clean and located just at the bottom of Piancastagnaio. We were given a large room with a common area and kitchen shared by other guest. Breakfast was self prepared. The owner has everything from milk/tea/coffee and juice/fruits and cakes prepared. Big garden so there was plenty of space for our dog. There was a pool and it is heated as well so a definite plus. The lady owner was really friendly and offered suggestion of place to eat and visit. Would stay there again if visiting that area

Pleasant stay

Not the most modern hotel but very charming. A lovely couple running the place - always helpful. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the hot water superb. (Pillows were a bit solid!) The food was great - both the pizzas and main menu. The picci and the polenta highly recommended. I would certainly stay again.
