Underwhelming

Reviewed By Steve0906

We went here for Sunday lunch a couple of years ago and it was not a great experience but thought we would brave it again just in case things had improved. They hadn't. The service from the young man at he bar was very slow and I had to repeat our order for two drinks, three times. We sat outside at the tables next to the water at the bottom of the garden. We ordered two baguettes, which were left on a table just outside the pub back door. No-one called us to say it was there, as they were supposed to. The food was nothing special. We left feeling very underwhelmed by the whole experience and won't be returning

Rose Marie Guest House

Warm Irish welcome to comfortable accommodation

Reviewed By markd809

We had the pleasure of staying at this guest house and were warmly welcomed and given a first class room that was dog friendly and very spacious. We had a large king sized bed with Freeview TV and a fridge included access to a shared kitchen and bathroom, with no one in the adjoining room, we effectively had a self-contained apartment. The accommodation was very comfortable and quiet and the city centre was a brief 15 minutes walk away offering shops and restaurants etc. Breakfast was included and was a traditional Irish break fast consisting of sausage, bacon, hash brown, egg, tomato, baked beans, white & black pudding, mushrooms and toast . The breakfast lasted us all day and tea/coffee and fruit juice, fantastic breakfast. Overall our stay was exceptional and we will return again when we go to Peterborough, Kevin was a gracious host and lovely man. Parking locally was Resident Only, but you are added to the scheme to get free parking.

Lovely food, great staff, quiet rooms

Reviewed By rogerb261

We stayed at the Blue Bell for just one night but had such a lovely time it felt longer. Our rooms were round the back and they were clean, comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed including a blanket, bowl and treats for our dog. We ate three times, evening meal, breakfast and Sunday lunch all of the food was fresh and delicious, the vegan offerings were tasty and home made and I cannot find fault with any of it. We were allowed to have our dog with us while we ate and a blanket a bowl of water were provided without us asking. The staff were, without exception, friendly, helpful and accommodating and appeared to enjoy working together. Two of our party went for an early morning run and got a bit lost so were a little late for breakfast, this was handled really well and full breakfast was provided for the latecomers with no fuss. I would heartily recommend the Blue Bell if you are in the area whether you want a drink, a meal or to stay.

Great little pub

Reviewed By 610ashleyh

Stayed overnight after travelling up from Sheffield for a friends wedding reception. Really nice pub. The rooms are basic (which you would expect for the great price) but neat and tidy. Nice bowl of packet coffee and teas in the room. The room was freezing when we got there but warmed up nicely when we turned the radiator on. Special mention though for the staff both on arrival and this morning for breakfast. Really friendly and helpful. They couldnt do enough for us. Brilliant.
