Reviewed By newbies666The location of the hotel are very far from the main street and it located at the industrial park area which is very dark and quite in night time and above the illegal gambling centre. People around the hotel mostly are foreign workers and the hotel are allowed the guests smoking inside the room without exhaust fan and window. Inside the room have one notice claims that any illegal activities happens in the room, the hotel management will not bear the consequence. If you are a smart person then you will understand what it suppose to mean.

If you are looking for a high end and grand apartment, not a good recommendation on this as its too old in everything. if you are looking for just, a bed to sleep, water to shower, this was the best as it can fit in with family member and value for money. During my check in, the friendly reception are giving me few key to choose which are the room i wish to stay.. One bedroom deluxe are fully renovated but the room was low. So i choose slightly higher floor wit better sea view, which the room was old. Idont criticism the apartment as how you see it and choose it. Paid for the low prize, i expected the room i get. Dont expected the room to be perfect if you gonna stay here as the price are reasonable f9r the price u r paid.

Reviewed By harryc710Went to Penang for foodie holiday - Penang was ok. We booked a King suite for eight nights through QANTAS for a “Great Price”. We were upgraded” to 2BR studio - which included a bedroom with King Bed. There was a shower/WC with threadbare towels and no towel rails and needed a good clean. The main room had an extra king bed, minimal kitchen (fridge, crockery/cutlery for four, and five cooking utensils) washer/dryer, TV (no english). WiFi barely worked and dropped out. We used our own mainly. The room was noisy - could hear people walking down corridor and banging around next door. There was no hot water over the kitchen sink or bathroom basin. An outdoor swimming pool was on fifth floor. Cleaned once a week apparently. I doubt that, with silt and debris on the floor when we arrived and when we left. The building had good restaurants and supermarket. The building had security, but the rooms are NOT as depicted on website. It’s not a place to be able to sit and relax/chill after a long day sightseeing. There are MUCH better options. If it sounds too good to be true it generally is.

Good property, location probably not ideal for tourists
Reviewed By yss97The apartment was quite nice and adequately furnished. There was a full kitchen which we didn't use apart from making tea and coffee, but you can cook if you wished. We had to pay a little extra for a sea view. However, we saw 1 small cockroach in the bathroom on 1 occasion which spoilt the overall impression somewhat. There is a swimming pool but no beach on the property. The TV channels are a bit fiddly to find if you are not used to a TV streaming box. The location is next to a shopping centre, so there are a choice of eateries (mainly chains eg Healy Macs, Dome etc, only 1 local restaurant called Nyonya Breeze which is a branch but not as good as the main restaurant in town) around, as well a grocers which was well-stocked. It is not too far from Gurney Drive, but a long way from Georgetown and the tourist sites in town. So not ideal for tourists - far from tourist sites, no nearby beach. The place works like an Airbnb - someone meets you when you arrive and lets you in. We had the rubbish bin emptied on the second day, and we had some water replaced but not tea or coffee. The key is dropped off at the 7-Eleven on the way out.

Reviewed By Eileen TDay 1 Never Been so Disappointed before! There is no receptional or front counter area for us to check in. You need to call the person to obtain the key when we arrived. Straits Quay Marina Suites Penang, I would said is spacious for Family of 4 to 5 to stay in. There is 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed and 1 small side bed which is uncomfortable to sleep.The kitchen is so small,of course don't expect the utensil to be clean but there is a sink provided.Refer to other review stated there is a washing machine but unfortunately there is no washing machine.Bath towel look dirty.I will suggest you guys bring own towel esp those with children. On the 1st day we don't see anyone at the same level we are staying thought we are only ones staying there, to our surprise we saw some shoes outside 1 unit. The retail area is also very quiet.1st night at 11pm sharp there is no aircon, there is no Wi-Fi, no TV .After 11pm the room is so warm that we couldn't even sleep. Can you imagine no Wi-Fi, no TV, no aircon. Some floor tiles in the toilet and living room are crack, those with elderly and children to take note. Cheap bed mattress and pillows which are not a good sign. Some of us end up having stiff neck. 2nd to 5th Days There is no food except coffee bean during breakfast. According to some local people staying there, we have to walk out 20 to 25min to get local food. You either Grab a car or walk all the way out. We have no choice but to Grab a car to send us around. Was able to book the driver for 30 dollar per hour and he send us shop around.We went to 3D museums, Queenbay mall and some places. We came back to the apartment at 4.30pm whole place again got no aircon, no TV, Wi-Fi is so weak = Don't have. We have tried to reset and called the person in charge for help. Can you imagine reset for 15 times and aircon is the main issue. We called the person in charge request to change the room and he given us the boss contact .As we can't stand the room with no aircon at all we called the boss. Manage to changes the room from level 3 to level 6 with aircon this time round but Wi-Fi is super weak and no TV again. Totally speechless to cut short on this whole issue. Day 2 than we realised that not all apartment belong to same owner so this is by luck. Don't think we will be coming back again unless they improve on those opportunity area.

Acceptable place where pets can stay
Reviewed By Mae TWe visited the hotel for an overnight stay with our pet in tow. We found the staff always friendly. The apartment rooms and bathrooms were clean. Location was good too, 5 minutes drive from the market/Pulau Tikus town. However, it would have been helpful to have a chair in the master bedroom. Aircons were available in the bedrooms but not the living room which meant we had to bear with some daytime heat. Remember to ask about their complimentary coffee making facilities and hairdryer should you need.
