Great accommodation for a short visit to the area

Reviewed By Stoke24

Stayed at Leonidaion for 2 nights with my partner in September. It's in a great location, just minutes away from the archaeological site of Olympia. The accommodation was very good, modern and stylish, rather like our host Damiano himself, who was great fun! Breakfast was very good. We enjoyed an evening meal at Orestis next door. All very good!

Just fine

Reviewed By afriendinrome

Yes, it is cheap. But also a bit sad. No view, 2 minutes from the centre but it looks you are in nowhere land. The room was fine (no personality but it’s ok), the bathroom is really really small , it doesn’t feel so safe (you cannot lock the door of the apartment), big kitchen at disposal nevertheless. Good for a quick stop, as we did but in general the city of Olympia is not great, just stop for the excavation and head to the coastline.

Hotel Hermes

Budget Travelers Hotel

Reviewed By MrJWY

I stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Hermes in late October 2018. I would rate this as a budget travelers hotel - plain and bordering on the rough. Recently laundered folded sheets were stacked on the bed, so I had to make up the bed myself... no big deal, but this was a first for me. The night side tables were scrawled with other travelers names, dates, initials, etc. giving off somewhat of a dingy feeling. The room was otherwise clean, bed and pillows comfortable, but this particular room, and suspect the others were much the same, would be more suitable for the one night, tight budget, back-packing crowd, who may be more tolerant, for example, about a small shower stall, initialed bedside tables, etc. My room, at the back of the hotel, overlooked grassy fields and an olive grove a little distance away - a pleasant view that made up for the other short comings. That aside, the owner was very friendly and eager to please; his elderly father prepared meals in the small restaurant - at a nominal charge. The Hermes is a short and pleasant walk to the center of town and to the archeological site. I cannot wholeheartedly recommend staying at the Hotel Hermes. But that said and in defense of the owner, he did say I was probably the last tourist of the year and that he was going to do some repairs and upgrade the place... it may well be a good place to stay now, but suggest checking more recent reviews.

the worst

The owner of this hotel is one of the rudest people I have ever met! He is far from greek ''Filoxenia''. It's such a pity that he gets the permissions for having this hotel open in such a wonderful place such as Ancient Olympia!!!!!!!! I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, not even to my worst enemy!
