Classic whitewashed buildings line the labyrinthine streets of Mykonos, the largest town on the Greek island of the same name. Matoyianni Street is particularly charming. Iconic 16th-century windmills keep watch over the village from the hills above, and the fully functional Boni Mill is part of the Mykonos Agricultural Museum. The Aegean Maritime Museum and the Folklore Museum will give you a proper introduction to the area’s rich cultural and economic history.

Honest review - Trip was nothing short of amazing

Reviewed By Hayley_st

I stayed here with 2 x friends in June, we were initially in a triple studio with partial sea view and jacuzzi which for 3 ladies was perfect. The terrace was lovely and large, the jacuzzi was warm and we were ideally located near the reception at the bottom of the hotel. The Receptionists at the hotel were nothing short of amazing, they were so helpful, knowledgeable and nothing was a problem for them. We had a small hiccup on our trip which was swiftly sorted by the Manager Elena who couldn’t be helpful enough. N.B Elena is by far one of the best Hotel Managers I have ever come across. She is passionate about the hotel, provided me with lots of interesting facts about the hotel and really enjoys working there. During our stay we moved rooms to a larger room/villa on the upper level of the hotel. (This room was nothing short of amazing and I cannot recommend enough) Rooms Triple studio – perfectly located, modern and light. Jacuzzi really added a luxury feel to this room and the terrace was perfect for eating and relaxing. Villa – Fantastic Sea view, great terrace, high ceilings, light and extra modern. I highly recommend booking a villa, it doesn’t disappoint. Both rooms had great amenities inside e.g. vanity kits, dental kits, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which was topped up everyday. Restaurant The hotel has a newly opened restaurant named Cous which is Mediterranean fusion. The lamb chops and Strip Loin are amazing, I had a seabass which was cooked perfectly. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side in comparison to a taverna, but the food is VERY good. Breakfast is one of two options either had in the downstairs restaurant and you are able to choose items up to a value of 16 euros includes items such as poached eggs on avocado, French toast etc. You do also have to take into account a drink, so if your meal is 13 euros and your coffee is 5 euros you will need to pay the difference which is a unique way of doing things. Tropicana also has the Breakfast buffet in Cous restaurant at the top of the hotel which is a continental breakfast with 4 options of warmer items (boiled eggs, scrambled eggs & two other items which change daily) it is a very European breakfast so don’t expect eggs, beans and bacon! You are also able to order an al carte option which ranges between 12 – 20 euros. Snacks/Room service Room service was perfect, when in the villa we were able to order from Cous restaurant to our rooms and when in the Triple Studio we ordered from the downstairs restaurant. The restaurant downstairs was really well priced (5 euro for a Chicken gyros), we had club sandwiches, pasta, chips and other items here prior to going out for a late dinner and the food always came really hot and was cooked amazingly. Staff I cannot talk about the staff at Tropicana enough, the receptionist at the lower reception really started things off to a high, following to Dina in the restaurant, the security, Theo, and Vassilis the drivers. All the men who take your luggage and drive the carts between the hotel and the hotel car service who take you around the island. Everyone at the hotel is so friendly and helpful and I am sorry I cannot remember everyone’s names. The staff should pride themselves on how well they look and care for the guests. Ad-hoc The hotel has a whatsapp number where you can message them and book a car to pick you up, drop you to your location. It is reasonably priced roughly 25 euros to town cheaper than the Mykonos taxi service. Tropicana Beach Club is located next door, you can hear the music if you are sat on the balcony, but it isn’t disturbing and it cannot be heard from inside the room. There is a small mini-mart at the bottom of the hotel located by the bus stop which is great if you need drinks and snacks. Pools Pools are great and they all have a snack bar and Bali beds by them, they all play nice and chilled music. We had one day of ABBA which was fun, the pools are clean and aesthetically pleasing. I cannot recommend this hotel enough for those traveling as couples and as groups of friends too, if you can fork out for a Villa I highly recommend. I will be returning to Tropicana and the views are incredible.

Amazing stay, highly recommend!

I stayed here with a friend for 5 days and the place is stunning, lovely pool and bar area (exactly like the photos), the decor in the rooms is stylish, very spacious and most importantly the staff went above and beyond to help us! I have to mention Joanna and Maranous (sorry if I’ve spelt that wrong)! Their communication and welcoming / friendly nature made our stay 10/10, Id like to go back just to see them again to be honest! We had free airport transfer and were welcomed as soon as we arrived. The place was fully booked but we didn’t feel like it was crowded at all, it almost felt like we had the pool to ourselves on most days! The apartments are a 10 min drive to town, so they recommended we get a quad bike, which was so worth it! It was €40 per day, which saved us a lot of money and we were able to explore the whole Island, it’s also only €5 to fill up the quad (Joanna helped organise all of this)! Cabs are fairly expensive, we used an app called iMove for our cabs which is like Uber, make sure you have cash for these trips! You can order food to your apartment, joannas recommended places are delicious and very reasonably priced! On one of the evenings we lay out by the pool with our duvet, had our music playing and star gazed, it was so relaxing and we even saw a shooting star! As long as you respect other guests you’re allowed to roam around freely here! The only negative which I’ve noticed some reviews say, is that people have an issue with is the planes taking off and landing as they are based by an airport, but that didn’t bother us at all! This was the perfect stay for us during Covid, it’s cleaned daily, there’s so much space and it’s away from the busy centre which during a pandemic can be a bit too crowded! Thanks guys for making our trip so smooth, we will be back!!

Stayed here for a week, the room was fantastic and the view was gorgeous too. The staff were very nice and helpful, couldn’t have done enough for you. The location was great, two minute walk from Mykonos town, over looking the old port from right outside the apartments. The maids even folded my girlfriends PJ’s everyday and left them on the bed for her. Would 100% recommend staying here, my friends and family are already looking at it for their next holiday

I had a wonderful time at Kouneni Apartments. All the employees at the front desk were always making sure I was well taken care of. At times I felt like I was the only guests at the hotel. I would definitely return, hoping to see you all again! Ideal for travelers who want access to the island’s best nightlife, dining, and shopping. It is located next to Louis Vuitton store. Very accessible to transportation as buses and boats depart frequently throughout the day and night. Loved this hotel

Beautiful location, but...

Reviewed By jjcoffman

Once you find the place, you realize the location is incredible! Perfect for walking to the windmills, shopping, food, Little Venice our only problem was the AC wasn’t working, which meant we had to leave the windows open for breeze, but then you hear the bumping party music all night. I think it stopped around 5am.

AMAZING value for money. The whole hotel experience was exceptional. Such a beautiful, clean and modern/minimalistic hotel. A third of the price of most on the island and Anna is such an amazing and helpful host. Katerina on the bar is fantastic, it’s so cheap to drink at the pool in comparison to the rest of the island and Georgio (Anna’s son) who has a bike rental place next door is very friendly and accommodating. I would also highly recommend his quad/scooter rental as they are one of the cheapest on the island. Great family run hotel. Would 100% come back and recommend.

Nicest spot on the island. Best location, service and views. Friendly owners

Brothers Nikos and Alex are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Alex picked up from the airport and Nikos spent almost 10+ minutes running us through everything to do on the island, gave us a rundown of what to do, where to go and what not to do. The lay of the land was helpful. . The accommodation itself was superb. Best location on the island. Close to the beach, a short walk to the busy old town. We loved it. Views were out of this world. Can't recommend this place higher. The breakfast is well worth it as well. Filled us up for the days activities. Book it in. Thanks from New Zealand :)
