Travel Dates: 2nd March, 2019 – 8th March, 2019 Location: Himalayan Glamping Retreat, Munsiyari Weather Condition: Snowed on 28th Feb, resulting in blocking of roads to Munsiyari Distance to travel: ~600 KMs Our second anniversary celebration time, we, in much need to get out of the city’s hustle bustle life, decided to drive down to Munsiyari in look out for serenity and peace; which was a destination in mind for a long time. Being warned multiple times by the property owner (Rupesh), about the weather conditions, we still headed for the destination from Delhi. To our great surprise, Rupesh was constantly in touch with us when we started the journey from Delhi till we reached there (almost a 2 days span). Guiding us the route to reach, time to start, etc, he ensured that we reach our destination safe and sound. Since we took a long route due to snow blockages on main route, we entered Munsiyari from the backside with hardly any visible snow. As soon as we entered the property, to our much surprise it was covered with heavy snow. We were received with much gratitude and hospitality at the retreat. Served with hot towels, steaming hot lemon ginger tea, with bukhari lit up in the dining hall; It all felt awesomely warm when we stepped inside the hall from a temperature of 2 degree Celsius We were taken to our cottage which were well constructed, beautifully furnished, warm and cosy, tastefully done; comfortable beds with large and well equipped bathrooms. Such places are seldom found in a small and remote location like this. The cottages had a verandah with a view of the mighty Panchachuli ranges. Enabling us to chill out and sip a cup of tea in the foot of Himalayans. Day 3 morning, it was bright and shining, when we opened up the cottage curtains, it was a new view of Munsiyari found. A beautiful and breathtaking view of Panchachuli Ranges right in front of the cottage; felt so close to Himalayas. We were told each day is a new view of Munsiyari and the beautiful ranges. Amazing food; one of the best ones I’ve ever had on a holiday. Heads down to the cook for preparing all variety of cuisines from Thai to Korean to Chinese to Italian to Kumaoni; all with much thought, as per our taste, delicious and bursting with flavor and freshness; none of it a repeat. The day was full of 5 course meals with all different variety and cooked with much care. There were small little things taken care of – warm water buckets as much as you need, limitless hot ginger lemon tea, different variety of cookies with morning tea, dropping back to cottage post sun set, arranging guide for short drive through, helping to visit nearby Shiv temple on Shivrathi as well, lively conversations, Bukhari lit up as much as you need. The entire staff was prompt, polite, caring, diligent, efficient. To add to our surprise, Rupesh and the owner Prashant Bisht, followed us on our return drive till we crossed the snow covered road ensuring that we do not get stuck. This is the best place to indulge in some marvelous bird watching, with flocks of birds fly around in splendor. As Munisyari is the base for all the treks, owing to weather conditions, we could not do none. However, there is no setback for same. Since even today as we sit back and recall the time spent, it just leaves us with a smile and beautiful memories of how we were pampered away from home. The untouched treks, the different colors of Munsiyari, will for sure call us there and we hope to get pampered again and again!!

Very decent government owned property
Reviewed By Prem1305I stayed there for 3 days and the experience was very good. They don't hike their prices like private properties do. Only thing is try for advance online booking. They have room heaters and restaurant inside. Don't build a perception that they are like typical government establishment. I strongly recommend to visit

Reviewed By Pvsi1966Stayed for a night here. Mr Pandey is most welcoming and kind. The hotel is average. The room was comfortable enough but they hv a real problem with the power supply..the room heaters and geysers refused to work obviously. They tried their level best to organize alternative solutions tho. Im glad we didnt extend our stay coz we were terribly cold. The only positive was the view of the mesmerizing mountains..the whole purpose of our trip from Bangalore. Solpa adjust maadi was our motto!

Reviewed By Arpita SWe booked 1 room for 2 nights in this hotel way ahead of our travel on Apr with the higher price as there are few hotels in Munsiyari. They deducted the full amount in few days and sent a mail about the confirmation. After few days prior to our travel their staff contacted me that they dont have any room available so if they can put us up in another hotel which is nearby. My question is if the rooms were not available how can you show that on the websites and why you deducted the amount and sent the confirmation. I came to know about this before 2 weeks of our travel. I found it very very unprofessional. As there are not many hotels available and we agreed to it because I was travelling with my kids. The hotel which we were put in was Bijlu Inn, the rooms were not at all standard. But the problem is with the communication between these hotels. Even after paying the total amount including food+Accomadation plan, during our checkout and day before that they were telling us that only accommodation is agreed upon, we have to talk to Vijay Mount View. While leaving again they started confirming. We found it very very bad experience. Definitely I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Even booking the rooms way ahead of our travel(May), deducting the total amount, the behavior is not acceptable. In our total 10 days stay in Uttarakhand this is the only experience which is bad.

The Name "Bilju" is derived from the Upper Johar valley, the land of world-famous Milam glacier, Ralam glacier and Nanda devi glacier from where River Gori emerges, is one of the beautiful ancient 14 villages in the valley, though they are in partially ruined state nowadays but still able to tell you about its glorious past.
Very Sub standard Hotel, Pathetic
Reviewed By Arpita SI was travelling with my kids and my husband in this May. The room which they accommodated was room no 309. The taps were all broken, the bathroom hangers just came off. As it was raining, it started dripping water from the roof , after complaining they simply put a bucket under it. The room was stinking, we asked for the room freshener. The cleaning ladies also didn't do much when we asked them to clean the room. We checked another room their geyser was not wporking. SO basically all rooms have problems it seems.The food was awful, the service was very very slow. The only positive thing about this hotel is the view. The view from the rooms of the mountain is splendid. Other than that everything was below average and I will never recommend this hotel. Even after paying the whole amount(1 night= 5000+ ) before our travel which included accomodation and breakfast+Dinner, they were simply having so much confusion in the communication with their managers and was telling that only accommodation has being booked, not food,Then while we were leaving then also they were confirming, whether we paid everything or not.They contacted the manager once he confirmed then they said we can leave now, and was literally standing in front on the car. I found it very unprofessional and insulting. I would recommend please never book this hotel.This is the only hotel which is a bad spot for our Uttarakhand trip. Else all the people in Uttarakhand are very nice.
