La Vite

Modern and familiar restaurant, managed with competence and passion by Cesare and Barbara.Placed in Soci country heart, the restaurant is intimate and reserved, with wide and luminous glass windows and a big outside courtyard. To few minutes of car from Poppi

Pleasant food, yet not outstanding and friendly service. But the dinner took very long, probably owing to an overwhelmed kitchen crew (although the restaurant wasn’t full).A good option, but there are better places in the vicinityDear Pierre, thanks for taking the time in writing this review, although we preferred the same time will dedicate to read a good book.I would rather have that in writing this review had written in detail when it was, how many you were and what you ate. From what you wrote I can not figure out when and how we were wrong. Our cuisine is all expressed and then happen to wait, especially when the restaurant is full or when customer orders are difficult to manage. What I can hardly believe is that the service was not great nor friendly. Usually the service is one of our strengths.Best regardsBarbara and Cesare

Albergo Ristorante La Verna

Reviewed By Brian S

I've stayed in Italy for about 30 days over two summers, and of course the food was good just about everywhere. The BEST food I discovered was at this little albergo in a quiet and quaint little part of Tuscany. Magda, Daniele, and their chef daughter Andrea will make the most amazing food for you. Choose the half-pension, where breakfast and dinner are included in the price of your room. The food they serve you for dinner . . . I still dream about it! Their arabiata sauce was incredible. Pizzas are excellent too, and huge! The hiking around the albergo is amazing . . . at the foot of the mountain where Italy's favorite son, Francis of Assisi, vacationed/retreated himself. The monastery on top of the mountain can be quite busy, and if you're looking for a lot of people, go there. If you're seeking quiet, the albergo is quiet, with an occasional bicyclist riding nearby and up the mountain to entertain you as you sit and relax in the quiet. The woods around the base of the mountain -- wow! The state park is massive. It's a must visit if you're in Tuscany!
