My husband ate at this restaurant based on the favorable reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed.....we each ordered the brisket on a bun and a side of steak fries. Everything was fresh and the BBQ brisket was delicious. Would definitely recommend it.....a real hometown atmosphere with good food and service!

Fresh Deli style sandwiches, made to order.
Friendly service and good food. American food is served and great atmosphere for families. Their menu reflects a variety of foods, but American food is their specialty. Breakfast is served all day. Good food, inexpensive.

Great breakfast, fast service, delightful waitress, great conversation too. We were in Malta on business, stopped at a west side US Highway 2 restaurant on June 6 for breakfast. After sitting for a half-hour and still no food (no, they weren't "slammed" with customers) we paid for coffee and left. Looked for the Hitching Post on east side of town on the highway immediately west of the large Milk River Pavilion building. You will drive past the small Hitching Post cafe (north side of the highway) if you are not watching for it. Very glad we stopped. A very friendly waitress met us, quickly took our order for two and served a well prepared breakfast, best bacon I've ate in months, great service and atmosphere. Great conversation with staff, smiles and laughs with quality food. Very affordable too for budget-minded travelers or people with families. Clean premises. Nothing better in Malta, Montana. Stop and enjoy the Hitching Post!

I had the chicken fried steak which was smothered in gravy and if not, it would have been pretty bland. My husband had the Walleye which was obviously frozen previously. Taste was good but texture was slimy and too soft. Prices are relatively high for what you get. The server was wonderful and the interior very pretty and VERY clean.

I have eaten pizza in many places and I am particular about the sauce. Stretches has the best pizza anywhere. The staff is helpful and always wear a smile. They serve great subs and sandwiches and their price cannot be beat. Definitely family oriented. Once you have eaten their pizzas you will want no other.

Most businesses were closed on July 4th but the Stockman was open for dinner and the special was their Super Burger, a half-pounder with 2 kinds of cheese and numerous other additions. Staff very friendly, service was efficient, and the meal was excellent. Will make sure to return on next visit to Malta.

We stayed overnight in Malta, and looked for a nearby restaurant for dinner. The Westside Restaurant looked good off the highway with plenty of available parking. As we entered I immediately sensed something wrong. Many tables and booths had customers, but only one or two had food served. The restaurant wasn't "slammed:" meaning a tour bus had just arrived or something similar. Most people sat expressionless looking toward the kitchen. I saw one waitress and one cook: no other staff or help. The waitress didn't look hurried. We decided to leave and look elsewhere. The next morning we returned for breakfast: same situation. Lots of people sitting, no service or food served. We sat for a half an hour and still hadn't ordered. One waitress and no other staff. I rose, told the waitress we had to leave and that we would pay for the coffee served. She said not to bother. We left and found another cafe on the east side of town. The Westside Restaurant looked clean, the tables and booths comfortable, but no service. I can't comment on the food because twice we were never served. You can do better in Malta. If you try the Westside Restaurant, look carefully at the tables when you enter - if no food on the tables, or people waiting and looking, turn around and leave, find someplace else, which we did.
